My 19 year weak dog have black stools?
I'm sorry about the nature of this question but my 19 year ancient dog has got really bad black runny stools. In the later few days i have fed her pigs liver thinking that she would prefer that to tinned meat, could it be the liver causing this, or lucklessly her old age? Thanks for your advice
too much iron in the foods ..furnish him a food that is easy to digest..with plenty of soft.a little cod liver oil in the food .will aid the flow of the food and protect the facing of the food tract.if it continues see the vet. but most dogs have tummy troubles when the temperature change.e;g spring and autumn.
Hi
Don't worry, Animals as with humans black stools usually simply signify Iron in the system, anyone who's stayed in Germany for a length of time will tell you like peas in a pod, it's the water that does it in Germany. Having said that you can either do some research near the on-line vets or visit your local vet.

Black stool can be a sign of bleeding, complex up in the GI tract. You need to call the vet without beating about the bush.
Black stools are not a "change her food back" issue.
As Science said, it's often a sign of internal bleeding or a major problem. My cat started pooing overcast stools and died within 48 hours.
The dog needs to go to the vet ASAP.
Science Chick is 100% correct.
Dont feed her that! Feed her dog food for awhil soo its poo can get back to typical!

Answers: Change her back to her usual diet. You started giving her something suddenly and she hasn't in synch to it. It could be too rich for her system. If, after changing her food back, her stool is still that way, she desires a vet.
i think both cuz ur not alout to feed dogs that
