My dog WONT at adjectives?
Ok my dog will NOT heel at ALL!! he gets way to distracted by everything, i even pull out some peanut butter and he ignore it and just keep pulling ahead on me. i tried a short leash wrapped around my body that makes him stay at my side but he keep wanting to go upfront and walk me.he ignores me completly
You've spoiled him.
try doing click training its a good way to maintain your dog active and is an excellent behavior modification tool. It takes alot of work and patience on your bit but the dog has fun with it and you will eventually not only enjoy a dog that heels but one that can be trained to do other things
Answers: Sign up for a group meekness class. Failing that, look into an Easy Walk harnesss or Gentle Leader headcollar (I prefer the harness, personally) that will help you to train him. When the dog surges ahead, turn 180 degrees, distribute your heel command and go off in the other direction. Treat for staying within heel position. Repeat until the dog gets the point.
Your dog is fine, you involve to have a positive only trainer show you how to properly work with your dog so that he understand your signals better and to be consistant with your training.
We all underestimate the confusion we send down the leash.
your dog doesn't view you as the head of the pack he doesn't think you hold any authority over him you need to establish you are the boss i would recommend an obedience training lesson to try and resolve this try to start with the simple commands sit stay ect then move up to the heeling
Sign him up for assent class or training in your town.
They will know what to do.
Just do that , it will help- remember they are professionals at it
Always depends on the breed and size of the dog, but try snapping a front every time he pulls and make him sit and when he does give him a treat. Also try to find out what's distracting him and bring him away from it.
Sign up for an obedience course! What is your question?
