Please relieve my puppy have parvo! When is she out of the woods?
We adopted her from a shelter two Sundays ago and she seemed fine. I took her to the vet immediately for her first puppy shots, etc. Last Thursday morning she woke up and have a bowel movement in her crate and the diarrhea started then. I called the vet and they said to present her Kaopectate, which I did. I called back Friday because she was still have problems and I took her in. They confirmed that she has Parvovirus. They injected her with antibiotics, give subcutaneous fluids, and sent me home with meds to give her. I took her fund in Saturday for IV fluids, and the sent her home Saturday night near injectable medication (because she has been vomiting pretty severely). I also gave her subcutaneous fluids at domestic. I honestly didn't think she would still be with us today, because yesterday her bowel movements consisted alot of red blood. I freshly dropped her off at the Vet this morning and they are going to monitor her today and give her some more fluids. At what point do you know they will net it?? I am so worried about her even though we haven't had her very long.
She's manifestly not out of the woods. Call your vet and ask them about Cerenia injections. They saved one of my pups. It is a very decisive drug to stop vomiting. Also ask them about Tamiflu. That usually works if started precipitate, so it may not help now,but you never know.
Parvovirus causes the diarhea and vomitting and the inability to process foods to outlive. This causes dehydration which is what ends up killing the dog. As long as she is sick, she has a unpredictability of not making it. Keep her on fluids and medications. Keep taking her to the vet. As long as she is under strict watch and keeping, she has a good chance of making it.
Answers: You don't know that they will manufacture it until the diarrhea stops and they are keeping food and water down without vomiting. This is usually 3-5 days after treatment begin. So, hopefully she will take a turn for the better today or tomorrow. Good luck to your puppy, I hope she pulls through!
