Plz Someone i THINK my dog have rabies?
Ok it started 2 days ago he got in a fight beside my other dog, then today he looked extremely sick, then he started drooling afterwards he snapped at my other dog trying to comfort him omg plz sometell me if my dog has rabies im so scARED communicate me what to do if he does omg :(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((
Has either of your dogs been contained by contact with raccoons? wild cats? strange dogs? bats? unresponsive or alive. Rabies is contracted through blood, saliva and brain matter. If your dogs have not been around these animals afterwards you should not worry. If a dog does have rabies it would be "dumb rabies" your dog would not act approaching cujo and most likely retreat to a dark area a die.
What the veterinarian will do:
quarenteen your dog for 2weeks -6 months
and ring up the health dept and let them know about possible rabies bag
or
euthinize your dog and have his brain tested for rabies,
and call the health dept..
My doggie within my avatar..was attacked by a raccoon..his nose and lips be all bloody. My dog had climbed into a hole on the side of a creek and be chased out by the coon. His rabies vac. was current. He was quarentened for 6months on my propery (he was irrelevant to leave) since he is a wolf mix. and he was reported to the health dept.the vet gave him antiboitics for the cuts and its be four years since he got beat up by that mean ol'coon.
**Current Rabies vaccination are required by law..thats why you get a rabies licence with a specific number and a signed rabies qualification from the veterinarien.
I would think since he get in a fight and now is idea ill that he has an injury somewhere and is in spasm.Take him to the vet.Rabies not likely since it is too early for signs plus your dogs have their rabies shots right? To the one who said this entity should not have allowed them to get in a fray, please ,in a multi- dog home this can happen and it doesn't show it is allowed you can not always stop it.
Take him to your vet. He should have never been allowed to "get surrounded by a fight" with you other dog. Put him in a crate and take him to the vet as soon as you can (preferably NOW). Best of luck!
P.S-- Be more fussy next time
Separate your dog from your other dogs RIGHT NOW. Then take the sick dog to the vet to capture him checked out, if he has rabies he will have to be put down. If he does hold rabies get all your other dogs checked out and if they are verbs then make sure they attain their shots.
If you have to put your dog down for rabies, and you have never gotten him his rabies shot, then this is adjectives your fault. I don't mean to be mean but it is the truth. If he doesn't own rabies then please be a responsible dog owner and make sure him and adjectives your other pets get rabies shots as well as every other shot that your vet recommends.
In some cities your pets can in actuality be taken away from you for not having them up to date and registered with their shots, and for well brought-up reason
Read this: "after coming in contact with the virus, the bitten animal may step through one or all of several stages. If the bitten animal is a skunk it may not show any symptoms at all but could become a lifelong carrier. With most animals, however, the virus will spread through the nerves of the bitten animal towards the brain. The virus is relatively slow moving and the average time of incubation from exposure to brain involvement is between 3 to 8 weeks within dogs, 2 to 6 weeks in cats, and 3 to six weeks in people. However, incubation period as long as 6 months in dogs and 12 months in people own been reported. After the virus reaches the brain it then will move to the salivary glands where on earth it then can be spread through a bite. After the virus reaches the brain the animal will show one, two, or all of the three different phases."
See, it is vastly unlikely your dog has rabies since it was only 2 days ago that the combat happened. He is probably feeling unwell which is why he is grumpy. Maybe he got more hurt than you thought contained by the fight. Take him to the vet and get him checked over...
this is why dogs get vaccinated with a rabies shot. If your dog is current on his shots you shouldn't verbs about rabies. Your dog cannot get rabies from your other dog... unless your other dog has it.
But you should verbs about the fact that he got within a fight and is feeling sick. Vet first, trainer next.
Please hold in mind that rabies can be passed on to humans. It only take a cut on your hand and some saliva from an infected dog. The shots are very painful. Your dog should see the vet. It most expected has some injury.
Take your dog to the Vet ASAP!! It could be just a seizure. But it could still be rabies. your don't want your other dogs to get bitten by it so whether you take your dog to the vet they could stop whatever is going on. PLEASE take your dog to the vet.
Hope your pooch will be ok.
Good Luck
Answers: Okay, calm down. It's highly unlikely your dog have rabies.
In order for the dog to have contracted rabies, they would have have to been bitten by an animal that had the rabies virus in their saliva (this animal will probable be showing symptoms and will invariably be dead within a week).
So in instruct for your bitten dog to have gotten rabies from the other dog, then your other dog would have be showing symptoms of it already.
What's probably happened is that your bitten dog is hurt or pissed off at the other dog and doesn't want them near him.
If your dog does surrounded by fact have rabies and is showing symptoms of it (although it wouldn't be from your other dog that bit him), there is nought you can do. The animal would be dead within a week.
I think u should 1st separate your dogs from warfare. cALL, Take your sick dog to the vets, ASAP! THE DOG NEEDS HELP!. He has something wrong. They need to see the dog to diagnose his problem. Then they can minister to him or her. Time is wasting, call and please get going, before things obtain worse. Good Luck!
firstly when the dogs be fighting, if the skin was puntured or worn out and blood was presant, then a trip to the vet is definatly needed and asap. if you hold had all his shots as a pup and every year he wil hopefully be fine but definatly needs to see vet asap as whether there is a wound you cant see it may be indected and he can be in a lot of agony causing him slaver and snap at other animals and even you
make sure you hold some where quiet for him to rest over night explicitly warm and cozy and has access to plenty of fresh water.
whether your dog will allow you to check him over do so very gently if he growls dont push it. whether he allows you to check and you find a wound, use boiled water with salt that have cooled down to bath the wound every few hours until you can get him to the vet but please take contained by the morning tell the vet your dog has been bitten by a stray and they will see you sooner
correct luck tilliandzeus(a)yahoo.com
keep both dogs apart and don't go hard by the other dog at all ,,he may have distemper but you need a vet to confirm it ,,do not draw from near the dog if he growls at you when you approach him ,, call 911 for animal control
It's extremely scarce for a dog to have rabies, maybe he felt desperate after the fight and didn't want any dogs near him. If you have your dog UTD on his shots your past the worst, if not take him to the vet and get his shots done. You'll quality better after talking to a vet anyway.
