Puppy supplies I stipulation give a hand buying ?
I'm getting a mini schnauzer in two days! I need supplies for my new friend. What supplies is compulsory? Name of brand please? (food,toys,etc)
I stand 100% down Diamond and Wellness brands of dog food. Most chain pet stores don't carry them so you might have to shift to a specialty pet store, but they both contain nutrients vital for brain and nervous system development. They spawn specific blends for small breeds and they are easy to digest. They are a little pricier than other dog foods but they don't use the filler that cheaper brands do so they are MUCH better. When it comes to dog food, if you money more you are most likely getting better quality. Also, construct sure you get something soft and warm for your puppy to sleep contained by. Little dogs need lots of warmth, especially within the cold weather days! Good Luck!
I similar to Kong toys for their durability and fun factor. Also the Chuckit brand of flying toys (balls, frisbees, and fling toys) is excellent and extremely durable. You can find them in any pet store.
Make sure you get a harness (Lupine make attractive, durable, and well-sized ones) for your schnauzer. Collars can pull and hurt the dog when you're training him to walk on a leash.

Dear Lilly,Congrats to you on your new puppy.You'll be hearing from lots of well intended folks on feed,training etc.I'll give you some advice that not only I follow but what I've be saying since I graduated and openned "shop" some 30+ years ago.1.,food.keep pet on a soaring protien easy digest.food for the 1st 2 years.Iams Smart puppy or Nutro puppy is excellent and reasonibly priced.Augment with a chewable puppy vitamin.For rewards use Iams weight control biscuts..blue box avail.(a) Walmart,Target for around $2.50.NO rawhide,pig ears.cow hooves etc. Even Greenies made product "safer"...whether possible.Bits of undigested pieces lodge in intestinal folds and manifest themselves as putrid bacteria nastys up to years later.Chicken convulsive is ok,not human grade seasoned kind though.You can make your own by slicing sweet potato and baking (a) 250 degree for a couple oh hours. Dryed out these are low cal and loaded with vit/minerals and once used to them canines love them.2., Toys..Petsco/Petsmart sell hard wrapped cotton ball and tug ropes.Pets love them..No tennis balls unless made for pets(and made in America) as sport tennis balls hold a fiberglass base that can "cut" while exiting pet via stoole.3.,Training..I've seen them all over the years,even tried a few myself.Dog Whisperer,New Wave training etc.While they may work for some,at best they are short possession and require reinforcment constantly. The champ trainers and handlers of AKC canines use an old and long dead English woman,Barbara Woodhouse.Download or buy her book.I've used and reco'd her methords for years..you can report who ultilizes her teqnics.by the pets demeanor and calmness. I agree with the Diamond and Wellness brand thing, but if you want something a tad cheaper, I'd walk for Purina Puppy Chow, which is carried at most of your local stores. That's what we fed our Great Dane when he was just a moment or two puppy (well, not little. xD) and he is healthy and strong now!
Bedding ;
I'd get your current puppy a soft bed. Make sure it'll keep him / her warm! Don't want your little dog to return with cold. He / she may want to sleep in your bed with you, that's what one of my dogs use to do.
Toys ;
I would go near squeaky toys and soft little stuffed animals and such. Nothing he/she could tear to shreds though or they may make a mess!
Grooming ;
I'd buy him/her some dog shampoo, because dogs can get pretty smelly! Also, a dog brush so he/she doesn't shed too much. Hair around the house get annoying. I'd get their nails clipped professionally, so you don't hurt them.
