Who's making all those pups? Who's buying them? Why?
Puppy mills who sell these so called AKC pure breed pups to pet stores nation wide and empire are stpid enough buy them.and the furocious cycle keeps goin.
And for Christmas, Mommy is getting me one of those totally trendy AKC registered small breeds! YAY!!
Why no silkies? Because no one knows what they are. Because no celebrities own them, and because, currently, they aren't surrounded by the limelight. However, give one to Paris or Britney for the holidays and I guarantee you'd see a shift.

Edit - Oh and who's making them? Majority will be bred by BYB's - Why? Because they're so cute and wittle and you can dress them up and carry them around in a shoulder bag! (GAG!).
I guess I'm far less concerned about AKC registrations than I am about the number of dogs admit to shelters and rescues every month.

I have other heard of puppy mills selling their dogs to people or pet stores. Most people who enjoy dogs that are AKC registered will won't the top breed and go to breeders not stores
I am quite sure most of those parents are not champion or even have an obedience title to their credit either.
Lots of backyard breeders and puppy mills pumping these out for the most recent craze. Ugh.
I always HATE seeing my breed used for any type of advertising or anything else that might bring popularity to them. No thanx. I like my breed undesirable as it is to most populace!
