Weird entity my dog merely did...she be howling and freaking out?
She may just be bored but Animal Planet has this show on right now in the region of howling and it showed some wolves who were howling. Casey heard it and started howling too. Then she started barking and she never bark in the house. Did she know what the wolves were saying? I hope this isn't a silly question but I've never heard her howl before. She's a extremely quiet dog.
dogs commonly howl when they hear other dogs/wolves howling. it's that primitive natural instinct thing they get the impression.
dogs come from wolves so it is natural. and yes she know what they were saying. my dogs do this to (without the howling part) so they're just communicating. even though it is strange.
Answers: I had a christmas cd playing the other day and that silly song jingle bells where the dogs bark the tune came on and my dogs come running. I shut the cd off. I think dogs have their own tongue. My dog, Andy, has vision issues and we play hide and wish with him in the house. Our new puppy keep telling him where we are, she is such a tattle tale. I realize he will find us eventually, but she in recent times barks the minute he comes in the room, so he knows where on earth to find us faster. My dogs react to some tv dog shows, but not all of them. They go and lay down and be upright when Dog Whisperer comes on. I think that is funny.
Many times, if a dog is bark on the TV my Bullmastiff Boomer will bark too. I guess they are trying to talk to the TV! It's interesting to see how they react though.
I'm certain she understood what the wolves were saying.
She be probably just being protective and territorial.
