What can I do to divert my 5 month outmoded pup?
I'm heavily pregnant at the minute and Im not fit to walk her. My boyfriend works long hours and takes her out when he gets a break! We have a garden for her to run about in but isn't joyful unless someone is out with her and it's pouring with rain at the min! She's so bored at the minute and I be aware of so sorry for her but Im just not fit to entertain! Any body have any accepted wisdom what I could give ger to do to keep her happy! She have loads of toys and bones but she's even bored with them now!
PLEASE GIVE THIS PUPPY AWAY. NO RESPONSIBLE BREEDER/POUND/SHELTER SHOULD HAVE GIVEN YOU A PUPPY IF YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A BABY. IT IS JUST CRUEL AND IRRESPONSIBLE. YOU DO NOT HAVE THE TIME FOR A PUPPY AND A BABY, AND THE PUPPY WILL NOT KNOW HOW TO BEHAVE AROUND THE BABY. PLEASE GIVE THIS SACRED PUPPY AWAY TO A HOME THAT CAN TAKE CARE OF HER, IT IS JUST TOO CRUEL. YOU CAN'T TAKE THE PUPPY FOR A WALK, OR PLAY WITH HER, OR EVEN TRAIN HER PROPERLY, PLEASE JUST GIVE THIS SACRED PUPPY AWAY.
I play a hide and hope game with my dogs stuffed little toy. I place it around the room and let him try to find it. I put it on a stool, top of the couch, beside the tv, in a shoe... It is really funny and keeps him engaged for hours looking for it. I have even put it on the ceiling fan in slow motion, and watch him go in circles running around it. Throw some balls contained by the house. Get some soup bones from the grocery store, keeps them busy for hours.
Not sure if you maintain all the toys available to the puppy all the time. Puppies, like human babies, can gain overwhelmed with too many. They also get bored near them quickly. I rotate toys to keep our puppy from getting bored.
In a twist to the frail t-shirt suggestion above, I use tube or sports socks tied in knots (ends and middle) for a good winter sport of tug of war or toss. I can read the paper or watch tv during these accomplishments, so you should be able to lay down or sit while playing. Plus, the pup can flip it for games to play by herself. It makes good use of older socks or missing pairs. Also, a new bag of tube socks is cheap. Each current sock that replaces a torn one is a new toy!
Good luck with the pup and new tot!
you could hire one of the neighborhood kids (a responsible one) to walk her. or cart her to a doggie day care. they are great for exercise and socialization. even if it's individual once or twice a week.
or you could read up on training and start training her while you have this extra time on your hands. training isnt a replacement for exercise, but it will serve relieve some of the boredom!!
listen i love and i mean love dogs, and i don't want you or anyone else to carry me wrong but it looks like you are doing all that you can right now, your going to be a great mom anyone that care oh so much for a pup, will make a super mom ,i love nice people ,anyways best of luck please do not stress the small stuff, just pocket care of you the rest will fall into place..
Pay for a walker. She shouldn't suffer because you're too big to get out of the house.
What's going to happen when the kid comes? Who's going to stride her then?
DOG WALKER, NOW!
Answers: Can you toss a ball for her? Play tug-of-war next to a toy (assuming she's small enough that you won't hurt yourself)?
Or make a new toy: my dogs LOVE out-of-date t-shirts that we don't wear anymore, tied up in knots like a rope toy -- particularly if the shirt still smells like us. =) Another easy one is an clean water bottle or milk jug. Or, if you enjoy other types of balls around the house that you don't mind her having -- tennis ball, golf balls, ping pong balls -- nothing special really, but special to her because it's NEW. If she have a kong toy or a natural bone that's hollow in the middle, you can spread a little bit of peanut butter or cheese on the inside to hold her busy. Even a plastic cup would work.
You could always try turning on Animal Planet ;)
