What is a angelic dog for me?

I'm 11 and my family is getting a dog. One problem.we don't know what breed to get. My step mom had a dachshund, westie, and a brittani spaniel. My friend have a golden retriever and a golden-collie mix. The only kids are me, and 11 year old, and my brother a 14 year old. I own 2 cats at my moms house,so I'm good with animals. (The dog will be at my dad's, so the 2 cats and the dog won't meet). I can train my cats to do tricks, so I'm patient and stillness.

Please help us!

Thanks!
Emily
I entail more information than that... how big is the house and backyard? Do you have a lot of "breakables" in the house?
What you need to do is research, research, research! The singular person that'll know what breed is best for your family is you and your family, not chaotic people who throw dog breeds at you because that is their preference. Like, what size dog best works for your inherited, what ones are the most child-friendly etc. Every single breed is different and you want to check which one's have the best temperament, least medical problems and are easy to train. The worst item you can do is get a dog based solely on how it looks! Please do as much research as you can before you generate a decision because that animal is supposed to be with you for the rest of it's life, know what you're getting into beforehand beside that breed before you make a commitment and put your money into it.
Answers:    Go to your local shelter as a family and pick one out. That's the best place to find your new best friend. He or she will be fixed, up to date on shots, and may even enjoy some house training and basic obedience.
german shepherd! they are loyal, loving and have a well-mannered temperament and you can teach them all the tricks in the world as they are outstandingly intelligent. They are however big dogs and require lots of exercise and they can become protective of their owner...all of which i love but its down to the individual and what you want from your dog. i cant really comment on any other dogs as i know very little but do your research and learn going on for the breed before you make your decision. Happy dog hunting.x
Labs, I'm a big fan. Every dog has it's own self-worth, but usually they're playful, loyal, and highly trainable. America's #1 registered dog breed for 17 years and counting. Great with kids and relations, train them well.
if you like playing with your pets you should consider getting a breed such as a golden retriever, lab, or collie. but whether you like smaller animals then maybe you should stick to a smaller breed. whether you can't decide you can always go for a mutt which tend to live long and be in good health rounded medium sized dogs.
Although you've given us some info about you adjectives, no-one here knows enough about your situation, the enviroment, experience etc to recommend one breed for you. Why not own a look at the kennel club website all together and short-list some dogs that you like the look of? Then go to some shows or speak to some breeders/owners of those dogs to find out how in good health they would suit your living situation. There are lots of factors to take into account surrounded by getting a dog. The problem with asking on here is that a complete stranger will say one breed to you, only just because THEY have one or think they are "cute" or whatever, lacking actually knowing how the dog will be raised. Good Luck.
If you have a large estate next to a lot of room get something like a border collie.
If you own a medium estate get something like a German Shepard.
If you hold a small estate like an apartment, get a Yorkie, or something small. OH, what about a beagle?

P.S. You might want to adopt a dog!!
Well, sounds resembling a small dog is best for you. A boston terrier is loyal, faithful and a great guard, he is easy to train and loves to learn, they are particularly, very strong and they will guard you with your life. He loves to play and have a very special bond with his owner. He is easy to groom and requirements a checkup twice a year at the veterinarian.

Good Luck!

definately u should get a german shepperd or a grey hound. maybe even a husky.
Since your step mom is used to a smaller breed, it might be better to not go beside something as big as a Golden.

Maybe something medium sized that is good near kids, and smart.

As you can tell by my user name, I am a Sheltie Lover. A well bred Sheltie is a biddable option. -- There are other mediums sized breeds that might also fit into your family. -- For instance: Schnauzers are playful and smart. Pugs can also be really fun dogs. They normally have a "cute sense of humor".

To learn the questions that you requirement to ask of any breeder that you consider buying from, go to our web site www.sunridgeshelties.com and click on " Where and How to Buy Your Sheltie" . -- The questions to ask would also be relevant to other breeds.

Make sure to get a written health guarantee from anyone you buy from, and please don't buy from a pet shop as most puppies for mart in pet shops come from puppy mills.

Good Luck with your new puppy!

I am 12 and only got a puppy. I highly suggest a purebreed golden retriever puppy. They are for a while trying at first but are worth it. They are kind and loving and like other people and dogs. They are heat up and loving.

hope this helps
Emily,
I'm also a great disciple of rescue dogs, not all of them are homeless because they are 'problems' peoples circumstances change, they get below par for instance and can't look after their dogs anymore.
I think a big consideration should be exercise, is there somewhere safe close at hand to where your dad lives that you can walk your dog, by that I mean for you and your dog within terms of traffic and your own personal safety. Remember at this time of the year it's dark surrounded by the morning before school and gets murky again before 1600, so on school days you may have to totter in the dark.
Some dogs need seriously of exercise and need keeping busy and occupied for most of the time, working dogs like collies and spaniels etc what will they do whilst you are at school?
Get yourself a book about dog breeds from the library but don't capture too wound up about 'breeds' think more in language of 'types'
My current dog is a JRT cross ( not sure what) she's a great little dog and not the first of this type I've had. She's full of beans and loves going for a walk or even newly a drive in the car, if it's a time when I'm at work she'll happily settle for a quick trot around the block but on my day's off she'll jump for miles through the local forest, chasing squirrels and running off lead with any other dogs.
She is tremendously intellegent and we've taught her to do lots of tricks and she will spend hours chasing after a ball or toy. She's very fit and not fussy about what she eats and likes other dogs, cats and population.
When we are out she just sleeps on my bed or watches the world go by out of the window.
I give attention to a terrier type would be great for you but get your dad and step mum on board, they might have to do some walking and humanitarian when you are not around and good luck to you, you sound like a nice girl who will administer a good home to some dog, I wish my parents have been so accommodating, I had to wait until I be 30 until I could have a dog, but I have made up for it since!

Whats anal glands surrounded by dogs? and how do you blank them?   What is a small, afordable dog that would be upright for vivacious and dutiful for a household?   What breed does my dog look close to?   How long do dog carrie their puppies?
