What is a Backyard Breeder?

I've come across this term a lot. What is the difference between this and a responsible breeder. I want to know what kind of breeder I get my dog from.
The definition of a back yard breeder surrounded by my own words is someone who breeds 2 dogs together either mixed breeds or pure bred registered dogs. They don't do any sort of temperament testing on the dogs they are breeding nor do they do any sort of genetic health trialling on the dogs they are breeding together. And they don't show their pure bred dogs in dog shows to prove they conform to the breed standard of the dogs they are breeding.

~They will breed a dog before it is ready. Before the age of 2 years of age. And generally during their first heat cycle rather than waiting until their 3rd or 4th heat. And breeding the dog every time she go into heat.

~They will breed their dog to the first dog they meet.

~They breed to make a expeditious buck.

~They breed their dog because they think their dog is so cute and want their children to experience the miracle of life.

~They advertise contained by the local newspaper.

~Will sell the puppies to anyone that is interested. Not civilized if it will be a good permanent domestic for the puppy. Never mentioning if it doesn't work out they are always willing to clutch the puppy back. Even if the dog reaches middle age and is out of control unsocialized and untrained.

~Will sell litter mates together to one and the same family. When in reality those 2 puppies will one and only bond to each other. Making them extremely difficult to train and they turn into a pack of dogs that has no respect for their owner.

That my friend is the definition of a Back Yard Breeder.
A responsible breeder is breeding dogs of show quality to amend the breed. They do not make money on this. They do not advertise "puppies for sale". They do not breed unless they have homes wrinkled up for any potential puppies that they do not want to keep for future breeding.

A back courtyard breeder (or puppy mill breeder) is a person who is only breeding for the money. They seldom take the time required to do proper form checks on all their dogs. They will also breed "designer dogs" or "designer breeds" which are a mutt. They will tell you "this is a labradoodle" instead of saying it is a labrador retriever poodle mixed breed, or "this is a schnoodle" instead of proverb a schnauzer poodle mixed breed. They breed mutts (generally whatever dogs they have or are popular at the time), make up a fancy pet name by combining the names of the dominant breeds involved, and slap an outrageous price tag on it to make it "respectable", which it isn't. They will breed the smallest runt to the smallest runt and call upon them "teacup" or "pocket" without making sure that the smaller dogs are healthy and enjoy no skeletal problems. They advertise "puppies for sale" and usually have far more puppies than they can supply. They have a high death rate contained by the litters of puppies because they do not properly care for them or check the health of the parents and grandparents.

So, basically the difference between the two: Responsible breeders are contained by it for the dogs, backyard breeders are in it for the money.
Answers:    Well, they just breed dogs for the sake of it. They may have a sweet pet they want to try and reproduce or they think that their dogs are trait because they have papers and/or are registered with some registry. They think perchance they can make a few dollars selling pups, etc. They just put out dogs without physical consideration for the future of not only the breed but the puppies produced.
Often, BYBs breed dogs with fault. This perpetuates fault and problems in the breed. They do nothing to prove their dogs are of nouns temperament and that they are breeding good representatives of the breed, etc. They just breed. And often, they do not even breed purebreds. Some BYBs "create" organized sounding things and think they are breeds - like Dalimers. This was see listed in the Washington Post as a rare, German breed. Well, they are mutts - crosses of Dalmatians and Weimeraners, nil more than a back yarder trying to make a buck

You used either a puppy mill or a backyard breeder. The ONLY difference is the size of the operation.

How do I know this? You have a itty bitty pomeranian that you called 'teacup' and you solely paid $400 for. You brag about how she's only going to be 3 or 4 lbs. Since solitary the worst of the worst use the 'teacup' term, since responsible breeders breed for health and temperament, not size, and since a well bred Pom would be closer to $1000, it's pretty secure to guess what kind of breeder you used.

On top of that, you were asking about breeding her, which would trade name you a backyard breeder.

Frankly, they are the low of the low. Pretty much the most unethical and horrid people out there right in a minute.
I certainly hope you've been saving up money to support pay for the medical bills that your pup will likely have.

Essentially, a BYB or PM is anyone that breeds for any other justification than to truly improve the breed. A responsible breeder runs dozens of health tests, shows their dogs, and is extremely involved surrounded by the breed.

Added: My mistake. You aren't bragging. You answered one question mentioning that you salaried $400 for your 3lb Pom that might be 4lb and asked another mentioning it as well.
Basically, backyard breeders breed for money or because they contemplate their dog is cute and want to have puppies. Often, they mix breeds or breed genetically defective dogs. Here is a good article on the differences surrounded by backyard and ethical breeders.

a BYB is a person who breeds mutts and sell them! They also breed a dog just cause they want one or they want their dog to have one or they want their kids to experience it.

A responsible breeder know how to breed and doesn't breed mutts, and only breeds to fix a fault on a dog such as bad hips or something!
