What is a devout breed of dog that return with along next to cats?
we have cats and we want a dog but we want a dog that wont hurt the cats
Labs, Golden Retrivers are great around cats. Try to avoid terrier types (especially Jack Russels) - most of them are bred to hunt rats and other small animals and could snuff out or hurt your cats.
Poodles, Doxies, Boston Terriers, Pugs, Whippets/Italian Greyhounds are good around cats. Most of the spanial breeds should be ok around cats.
there is no particular breeds that gets along next to cats. if u go to shelter or breeder to get a dog, ask the ppl that works in attendance if that dog gets along with cats, some of dogs in that are already trained to get along with cats. another great idea is, adopt a puppy, whether u socialize the puppy with cat at early age, than they would do fine. also, think in the order of ur cat's side does ur CAT get along with Dog?? figure that out first. :]
i have 3 cats and 2 dogs. they are english springer spaniels. they dont face-off with the cats at all.
There's not really a certain dog... tho I'd get a smaller one that's not unbelievably vicious lol What my grandma did (since she loves having a cat and dog at the same time that get along) be see how they act together and since they hated each other (Whenever the dog get near the cat the cat would try to claw it) she got frustrated and put them in the dog trainer round up and let them out when they got along haha. It actually worked alright :) but sometimes whether you have a kitten with an adult dog or a puppy beside an adult cat the adult cat/dog will act approaching the puppy/kitten is their baby which is cute and they end up being friends. Good luck and whether nothing works out you can go to like Pets Co or Petsmart or where on earth ever and ask them if they have like a special program. :)
If you gain a puppy, you teach the dog to like and get along next to cats. Its all in the up bringing.
Great Pyrenees are known to be moral with cats, which is one reason I choose them as a breed to foster. Breeds with a giant prey drive are much more iffy, but most dogs raised with cats are fine with them.
Answers: any dog can get along with cats. we own 3 dogs- a golden, a collie mix and a german shepard mix, and we had 2 cats (one passed away recently)

Theres no particular breed thats best next to cats...some people will tell you that terriers are bad beside cats, but we have a terrier and she's best friends with the kitty
here is no such thing as a breed of dog that likes cats. Its individual. most shelters test their dogs to see whether they get along with cats. Go to your local shelter and ask them to see some dogs that are cat friendly. Otherwise, check petfinder.com
a small dog like a Japanese Chin or Shih Tzu.
