What is a polite dog breed for me?
I live in a small house without much of a yard to speak of. i don't intellect walking a dog but i don't want a dog that's going to need a lot of exercise. i like labs but they are a bit too big for my house. they also requirement to be good with kids. help me out guys!
Probably a small dog. I'd say, Chihuahua, Maltese, Pug, or any small dog. But Maltese need to be groomed and brushed weekly and Pugs own health problems. Watch Dogs 101 on animal planet or look up info on dogs that meet your preferences.
You should not get a lab as your said. They really need a courtyard and more exercises than just a walk. Your best bet is really to go to your local shelter or look on petfinder. French Bulldogs are low verve dogs and require only a couple walks a day but tend to hold health problems, a steak of stubbornness and fart a lot. I would recommend getting a mixed breed that has some french bulldog within it to reduce health problems. Basset hounds are low energy, but will inlet a lot and if you are not comfortable with a dog bark all nigh, may not be a good option for you. King Charles Cavalier Spaniels are also a perfect choice but do require daily grooming. Greyhounds, believe it or not, are couch potatoes but do need a honourable run several times a week. Be careful of getting a small dog for young kids. No matter how okay tempered your dog is, if your kid plays too rough and accidentally breaks the dog's leg, it will probably bite, no matter how economically tempered the breed is. You should also consider a senior dog. You can get almost any breed and they will require smaller amount exercise.
French Bulldog. They are calm, cute, and require little exercise. They do snore and tend to have trouble breathing because of their squashed little noses, though. :)
Hmm, I'm not certain on specific breeds but I'd say a labrador would be too big. Not only because your home is small but they want quite a bit of exercise as most large(ish) dogs do. Also they can have a bit of a weight issue so entail the extra exercise from time to time. Try something smaller, around a Jack Russell's size, although I wouldn't necessarily recommend a jack russell, they can be quite active.
Answers: Best passageway to go is a small dog. You also need to recognize the amount of money your feeling like to spend, and how many hours per day the dog will be with them. I know from experience small dogs entail much attention and working all of the time is not good for them. As far as a small house, small dogs are great. Theyre also less expensive to nurture. They need very little exercise, but still enjoy going external if your willing to take them. Small dogs can be moral with kids if you train them to be. Going to an animal shelter and picking out a small dog that is not a puppy anymore could be impossible, because unless their used to kids, kids most likely will be a problem. There are also small dogs for people who are allergic if specifically a problem. I have a 3.5 pound yorkie, shes over one year old and shes amazing. She was expensive though, something like $1000. Maltese are a good dog too but I feel like they do not revise as fast as yorkies do. If you would like more information on yorkies let me know I am pretty experienced beside them. Hope I helped!
You said you like Labs...and they are great family dogs. Since you don't mind walking the dog later that shouldn't be a problem...plus they are very smart...and very adaptive. As long as he/she could get out to romp some every year I wouldn't see a problem.
Also...they are protective of their "pack"...which can help.
Well.. i hold a golden retriever and live in a very tiny condo. their GREAT family dogs and are wonderful near kids but they would need lots of exercise.. i recommend a welsh corgi
Beagles are small and good near kids I believe... but they require lots of exercise.
I would look into a cavalier king charles spaniel.

German Shepard or Husky
toy or teacup poodle but generally pugs are great with kids and very well behave.

Well, your question has certainly provoked a large amount of discussion. Having had a few different breeds in my life, I'll put in my own opinions. Labs are great - but too large. They may look happy, but they call for a LOT of exercise. I think this is true for most large breeds. So, it comes down to small dogs. Forget the Chihuahua and the beagle. The first is too hyper, the second desires as much exercise as a large dog. Terriers are great, but also need a lot of exercise, otherwise they'll start chewing anything they find. The best small breed in my opinion is a miniature poodle (not toy). Poodles are among the most intelligent breeds (and this has be conserved in the miniature version); are great with families; don't shed, and will truely love you.
West Highland White Terrier, they are great with those, kids, other animals. They have a long life span, mine lived 16 & 18 years. Very healthy.
well this is what i do go to google and type "what dog is right for me quiz" and over a million things will pop up.
Lhaso Apsos or Shih Tzus. Those two kinds are related, except Shih Tsus are smaller.
If you're planning on walking your dog on a daily basis, don't let the size of the breed be a determining factor. Mostly all dogs will do well within small spaces with little or no yard if they're given appropriate exercise.
I hold a German Shepherd Dog in my house that is only 1200sq ft and we fit impeccably!
I would really be more concerned with the dogs ability to behave ably around children...ie, no chi's or shiba inus etc etc
Miniature poodle, or pug.
I surmise a collie would be the perfect breed for you. They are kind, sweet, playful, and good next to kids :)
Toy Poodle
