What is the point of doing this ?

why do people dress there dogs it is not cute and they have fur to hold them worm if u want to dress things up why not buy a babby doll and if u are an adult after you must have un resolved age issues
I have no hypothesis why, maybe they secretly want kids?? lol

I do have a jacket for my dog, when it get really cold out and snowy. He has really short hair, so it doesn't matter whether they have fur or not.

Why would you care what other people do next to their pets, and how they dress them. If you don't like it, then don't do it. There is a market out near and people will buy it, thats the purpose.
Actually, on the contrary--- there are MANY breeds of dogs that are sensitive to both cold and heat. This includes Chihuahuas, and American Pit Bull Terriers.

Are short haired breed of dog does not have the undercoat that a dog similar to a Golden Retriever, or Rottwieler, or Australian Shepherd would have, thus making them more susceptible to cold.

There are plenty of logical and respectable reasons to "dress up" a dog in a coat or sweater, even booties to protect their foot, but doing it as a fashion statement is NOT acceptable.
you should do some research into Italian Greyhounds. If you take one of those dogs out into the cold w/o a sweater it could be considered animal cruelty
It's a matter of opinion, I deduce some little dogs in sweaters are really cute. Some dogs Need sweaters when its cold. And there's nothing childish about dressing your dog up merely for fun. Why do some guys get fancy cars and shine em all up? And why do some people gain horses just to "dress up" and take to shows? Because they have unresolved childhood issues and never grew up? That's ridiculous!

idk. some ppl do this to LITTLE dogs for like, costumes for halloween, or purely bcuz they want to. i think that its mean, but hey, thats my opinion.
If it's a light-coated dog (like a greyhound or whippet) and it lives in a cold climate, that's one thing. But outfits and costumes are ridiculous.
I realize you're talking around the silly "costumes" in which people sometimes dress-up their small dogs.

But I tend to get hold of a bit irked by the "they have fur" mantra.

I have had Great Danes for nearly 50 years. I don't "dress them up" but some individuals do inevitability coats and/or boots when the weather is cold.

My current, 10-year-old Dane begins to shiver at 50F. By 40-45F she'll literally moan while shivering, unless in the middle of heated play. She walks close to an old lady in icy snow or on salted sidewalks, not getting tremendously far before she is holding her feet up individually, or stamping them on the ground in unambiguous discomfort.

When we were in NYC, the hotel doorman suggested I take her to an off-leash park a few blocks absent. I didn't bother putting her boots on when I left my room because I'd only intended to take a expeditious walk to allow her to relieve herself in a nearby green space. The footing at the off-leash park be mostly pebbles, but they'd frozen into sharp ridges overnight. Most of the dogs were running around like maniacs. That's as a rule what my dog would do too. The most common question I'm asked is, "How old is your puppy?" Even at 7, 8, 9, and immediately 10-years-old, she's so fit, active, and playful, people think she's a puppy. Yet because the footing made her foot sore, she walked around like an old female, and one man walked up to me and asked, "Is she very old?" I couldn't believe it. That be the first time someone had asked if she was "old"! ...All because she wasn't wearing her boots.

She also cut her foot severely badly while swimming at our cottage, many years ago. So we went out and bought a set of two of boots made for swimming, which she also wears during hikes. She hasn't cut her feet since, and she runs around like a maniac. In reality, I'm almost worried by how care-free she is in her boots. She takes masses more chances than she would without boots.

So...in my books...

"gear" (things expected to protect the dog) = good
"costumes" = pointless
Well, I myself do not believe surrounded by dressing dogs up for fun, but some dogs have really thin coats and are really small so they can't keep thaw out in the cold.
I hold a 10 month old teddy bear yorkie and she get in to every small space possible and she always comes out with dust and spider web all over her coat. I started putting a t-shirt on her when she went outside so that i don't enjoy give her a bath every night. After a while she get used to it and loves to be dressed up.
people do it because they come up with its cute. also, some dogs cannot tolerate the cold, so they need something.
Answers:    Why do people not use spell check when they send emails or post online?

1) If your feelings is that dressing up a dog isn't cute then don't put clothes on your dog.

2) Some dogs actually have such little fur that they do involve sweaters or coats in the cold. These dogs usually hail from thaw out climates where it doesn't get that cold. They weren't made to handle winter weather found surrounded by areas closer to the poles than the equator.

it is kind of rude and disrespectful to a dog!!
will every person has is like and dislikes is that simple
What do you estimate of these dogs?   Min Pin breeder contained by AZ?   At what age is a black lab/cattle dog no longer a puppy?   Why wont my dog quit scratch?
