What is your experience near dogs next to cancer.?

Hi all!

Im just wondering what experiences yall have have with dogs with cancer.

Nash, our White GSD started to loose weight nearly this time last year. We thought he had worms so we wormed him. And he kept looseing weight and he be loosing it fast. He went from being a worthy 125lb to about 60lbs in a little more afterwards a month. He had lost all interest in food and didn't own any life left in him.

Well we rushed him to the vet. The vet settled to do an exploratory surgery on him to check for any intestinal problems. and see if he could find any tumors.

Well he did and he diagnosed Nash with pancreatic cancer. He told use to bring Nash home and craft him comfortable and to set up an appointment later that week to have him put to sleep.

Well right after the surgery in wich he removed the tumor Nash started to drink again, gained weight and had time to him.

We decied to cancel his appointment for euthanasia and only do it if he started to dance down hill again.

Well it has been a year and as our vet say if he didn't know any better he would never believe that Nash was knocking on death door just a year ago.

On saturday Nash celebrated his 9th birthday.

So what are your doggie cancer stories?

How often have you see a dog go in to remission with out any treatment for the cancer?

If your dog did walk in to remission how long did it live afterward?

I cant find any of my pics from when he was sick.
we have have a few dogs with cancer both which tumors we didn't find until too late, so you are a very lucky dog owner and Nash is outstandingly lucky too. I would consider him a miracle dog. Even though he survived this still cherish every moment because one day there wont be moments that you can cherish
oh thats such a great story, i am soo joyous he got through it and thank you for not putting him to sleep, its great you gave him another chance. miracles do begin :)
Answers:    aww im so satisfied for you
my jack russell/chihuahua Hunnie developed a lump on her side at nine months old and had become lethargic, not hungry, and simply not her energetic self. the vet did a biopsy and said it was a mast cell tumor so she have emergency surgery. after surgery she immediately improved without further treatment. shes a year and a partially now and still doing good.

We had a Sharpei that was peppered beside tumors all up and down her back legs. Our Vet removed them all, but said she might grow more or own it metastasize to other areas. She lived 8 more years.
i put our 14 yr old Aussie down a few mths ago. we inherited Bandit and the cancer had already gone too far. within march 07 we were given 6 mths. a little over a yr subsequently, we sent him to Rainbow Bridge.
Palliative thought is something of a speciality of mine. Dogs and other animals with cancer often defy adjectives odds one way or another. I really feel that they hold their own agenda and because they are not influenced by someone telling them that they will live or die, they just get on near it and live as best they can for as long as they can.

I do believe pain management is a top priority as is talent of life.

Congrats to you and your lovely Nash. May he chase squirrels well into his teens!
Im so happy for you that he is in remission. Almost two years ago our GSD mix started to throw up, not eat, and lose solidity. We feared cancer and the vet confirmed it. They found out from a blood test, and they said it was most promising in one of two places. The first place they looked, they found a tumor. She had anal gland cancer ( I cant even imagine how hurting that is.) They said that since they didnt know if it spread anywhere else, we could do 1 of two things. Remove the tumor and hope for the best. They said that usually removing the tumor ( atleast an anal tumor) normally is only a temporary fix, and the dog will be in agony for a long time from it. They said she would get 1-2 years from that most likely. Our other choice was to put her on steroids. We chose the steroids mostly because we didnt hve the money for the surgery. We also didnt want alot of the time she have left to be in pain. After giving her fluids, we took her domestic, and within an hour she was eating. I can remember precisely how long she was in remission, but it wasnt very long. 2-3 months conceivably. Nash sounds like he is doing great. Good luck in the future.
Beautiful well unfortunatly my story isn't as touching.

I have a great dane that I got when I was 4 yrs old.

At 10 years mature which is very rare for a dane to live that long. She got cancer surrounded by her mouth. We had it removed. Other than the cancer she was perfectly in shape she would have lived another 3 yrs.

Unfortunaly 2 month later the cancer came put money on. The vet said that we could remove it, but it would just come back again. It wouldn't have be right to put her through the pain of surgery every 2 months just for us. So we decided to put her down at 11years matured.

It was a great and long life for a great dane though.
Neighbor's whining dog; should I call upon animal control?   At lowest once per month my dog vomits and have diarrhea surrounded by the middle of the hours of darkness. What are possible cause?   I deem my dog have worms!!And my babe who is basically 10 months elderly other around him! What should I do?   What could be wrong beside our dog?
