Whats a suitable dog for letting of leash and knowing it wont run absent?

A boarder collie. there is this one over at this park, and its a boarder collie. it is trained but its awesome! it can do tricks and it definitely can be trusted with not running absent off a leash. And i think that you should train it though if you capture one. they are easy to train i have heard.

No dog breed is known for this, you have to train them! But some breeds are more likely to run absent despite training than others. Avoid hounds, they are easily distracted by sights and scents. Avoid terriers as well, they are also distracted by scent and quite headstrong. Many of the toy breeds become quite attached to their owners (often too attached to the point where on earth it's unhealthy) and are likely to stay very close. They still need training, but various are less likely to run off. You may be surprised, but the really large breeds are very similar in this respect. Mastiffs, Newfoundlands, St. Bernards and abundant other giant breeds also like to stay very close to their owners and would likely stay to hand you with a little training.

Make sure your dog understand the commands come and stay reliably in your fenced yard beforehand you attempt any off-leash training in an unfenced area.
There are several good dogs breeds. I enjoy a lab and she never runs away. We also trained her to never cross the street unless told to. You just need to be highly strict (but loving) when training them.
None. In the US it's law that your dog be on a leash when not in a paling or on a chain.

Doesn't matter how well trained the dog is. All dogs eventually run rotten. Just that the untrained ones do it often. There's always that one time when a well trained one will forget their training and run rotten and get hit by car.
I believe any dog can be trained to stay close by when let off leash. My Sheltie would never get ahead of me or fill behind if he was walk off leash. I've had other dogs that didn't do as well, they take ahead or fall behind. I imagine a scent hound or verbs hound might be harder to train.
Hmmmm it depends. I hold a golden retriever who tends to run away. I've noticed that labs tend to be extremely loyal when skilled to be. Most dogs can be trained to come. REMEMBER! teach "come" as your first command. sure "sit" and "lie down" looks pretty, but "come" could be the difference between you and your dog's right relationship.
Any breed that is trained well, and is spayed or neuter.
So long it's trained, it won't run.

But a hound's intuition may overcome him and he will run and chase that rabbit. Also terriers may be like that too. I would suggest not going with a hound or a terrier whether you are a first time dog owner.
Answers:    a stuffed one, hehe
Shelties are VERY smart and are actually the Second smartest dog in the whole world!! but Im not adage you could let him or her off the leash when they havent had obediance trainng im purely saying they pick up on things alot more then other types of dogs!
A well trained one!

There really isn't a specific dog type that doesn't run. It takes patience and training. Hunting dogs tend to wander rather more.
Some breeds are easier to train off leash than others, approaching sighthounds vs border collies

but it still needs to be trained
Well, no breed will fulfill this, you have to train them to not run absent. I would suggest a long lead until this is done. Or a FENCED IN YARD!
A legless dog won't run away.

If you really want a dog beside legs, chances are it will run away. Therefore, try training. It really works! Sight hounds and scent hounds are usually the hardest to train, as they are smoothly distracted by various things (i.e. running things for sight hounds and scents for scent hounds)
u can train any dog to be loyal... my dog is a hunting dog, and he stays with me, so that thing that the other personage said isnt always the case :D
One you train. Best to do this in an roofed area at first.

The hounds and some terriers can be very focused when they find a scent to follow and become a bit 'deaf'. In general, non-neutered males will also follow their hormones instead of training sometimes. The lap/companion dogs are to some extent faithful. Herding dogs that have a good relationship beside their owners are usually very good - such as a cattle dog. They are call 'Heelers' for a reason.

Any intelligent dog with a good relationship/respect for its owner can be trained to be past its sell-by date lead confidently.
One that you've spent a LOT of time training and proofing.
Any dog that you have trained okay and trust very much.
A TRAINED one.
Anything but a hound dog. You can try to train a hound but they will always follow their nose.
a trained one
