When do you procure a dog spayed?
It's really confusing I know I've asked this before and you all said asap however I asked my local vet where i gain my dogs vaccs etc and he said wait until after her first season.. So please let me know thanks.
If it help she's a 6 and a half month old Lab.
My vet told me 6 months.
Okay, I own two things to say:
1. Get your pup spayed at around six months and,
2. Get a new vet, yours is obviously retarded or something, you dont loaf until after her first season to get her spayed, you're supposed to do it BEFORE!
ADD: I mean you CAN get her spayed after her first fry, I'm just saying you wouldn't want to risk her getting pregnant.
Get her spayed very soon...she is going to move about thru heat soon...she's at a perfect age now.

Now is the foolproof time, 6 months or younger. Some vets spay according to weight. A lot of the pound puppies get spayed before. She does not have to have her first season to be spayed.

I was at my vet nowadays and asked the same question.He told me that it's best to get it done when they arrive at 6 months old.
Answers: The younger the better. Six months is the perfect age.
Between 6-9 months is best. Ask if he would consider doing it soon lacking a heat.
Follow your vets guidance then, if you're happy near him.
Some do say before the first season. There are pros and cons for both.
Just be careful not to consent to her out of your sight when she's on heat. Then you can have her spayed 3 months after her season ends.
