When should I spay my dog?
I have an appointment to spay my 6 month old puppy in December beforehand Christmas. We just found out that we have to board the dog the second week of January (5 days), so Im wondering whether we should spay her and have her boarded all at once in January instead of doing the spay contained by December, then boarding her again just 3 weeks later. She will own to spend 1 night at the vet with this procedure anyway. Would that be too traumatic? She is a impressively friendly, personable dog, fairly well trained for a 6 month old puppy and loves going to our vet (which is where on earth we would board her/spay her). any advice?
Best to ne spay between 6-12months to prevent "Adult" behaviors. But it is always better to spay and spay than not! :D
she will be fine whether you do both of them. she may feel that the vet isnt a very nice place anymore but its worth not letting the dog reproduce over and over again.
Answers: I personally would get her spayed surrounded by December and then board her again in January. Its fine either bearing but I'd want to be there for my dog after surgery. All dogs are different so it affects them differently. Some dogs feel sick and I'd want to be there for my dog. Vets are well brought-up at keeping an eye on dogs but I'd want to be right there in case my dog be going to be sick. Like I said other dogs are fine and just want to sleep it off. I think any decision is fine.
On a side note, thanks for spaying your dog. Too lots poor dogs end up in pounds because of accidents.
This is a persona;l choice but if it was my dog, take it domestic after the procedure so as to more or less give her a little love and attention so she get over the trauma of being left at the vet over night which puzzles me as at my practice it is done adjectives in one day and the animal goes domestic that evening.l guarantee she will hate the vet after this.Settle her down and enjoy her until you have to board her which she will not appreciate any. That is just my opinion and l said there is no wrong or right answer as you should know your feminine and understand her needs and yours also.
