Where can i whip my dogs to run within the winter?
i know a lot of people will say external of course put a coat on them and head out. Well i live in northern Michigan and my dogs are adjectives pits which of course means they have short coat and i wondering if anyone knew of inside dog parks/tracks/ anything that i can take them to, so they can burn bad some energy. The cold AND the heavy snow is too much.
Answers: It's probably not too cold for them unless you live in a hugely warm house. Dogs are amazingly adaptable. If they are fit and healthy their body adjust to the cold. The fact they have short hair doesn't really event to them. A dog with short hair can actually regulate it's body heat better than a long haired dog. A short haired dog doesn't have the problem of getting snow and rain water trapped on it's skin making it cold.
The one article to be aware of is their paws. You can buy paw wax that protects their paws. It can help save their paws warm as when they are running. If it's cold they can lose some sensation and lose their footing.
Your dogs will be fine in the weather.
