Which Sex Combination Would Be Best For A Pit Bull And A Doberman?
When I start college in a few years I am going to buy a Doberman puppy to take with me for company. I already own a breeder chosen based on the socialization of the puppies, temperament of them, and over-all health.
I also plan on getting an American Pit Bull Terrier puppy from my friend who breeds them when I graduate from college. I have see both breeding Pits and they are the sweetest dogs, so I know that they will be well tempered dogs.
My question is which sex combination would be best of the two dogs? (Male Pit/Female Doberman, Female Pit/Male Doberman, Both womanly, both male?)
I want to make sure that they will achieve along well. I have researched both breeds also.
I would have to say it would depend on the dog. Each dog whether female or masculine have their own entity! All of my dogs, same breed or not, are all different characters! If you can, put them together as pups! This seems to be the best process! Don't wait too long because then the jealousy factor kick in! My two dogs that were together as lil pups are the best of friends and they are both female! I hold had two males and one was a spunky, friendly pooch and the other acted as if it have a hangover day in and day out! If you are going to a breeder, check out to see how they take action with the rest of the fam (aggressive, sweet, shy, etc.). Good luck to you! Dobbies are awesome dogs!!
please DO NOT pilfer a dobe to college with you. A dobe will require much more of your time/energy/attention than you will be able to properly provide during your college years...especially a puppy who will inevitability even more of your time devoted to training, socialization, safety, and dealing with puppy shenanigans. A dobe requires LOTS of physical, mental stimulation every single day. A couple hours of your time throughout the year will simply not suffice. If you have classes, a social life, or a job, you simply will not know how to give a doberman what it needs which is your time, attention, and energy. You will cessation up with a bored, undersocialized, poorly trained, destructive, neurotic 90 lb dog that you cannot handle. This is how so many dobes stop up in rescues, shelters or just being put down. I believe you enjoy good intentions, but trust me when I say that now is the worst possible time for you to grasp a dobe. Frankly, it would be cruel.
Answers: Generally your worst pairs are same-sex pairs. Two females, in singular, can be a dangerous mix. So one male/one female is probably the way to stir. In general it doesn't matter which breed is which sex.
With that said, I actually hold two male dogs that get along great. They had one affray about 6 months after I brought in the second one and hold been best buddies since. So a lot does depend on the personality and temperament of the individual dogs.
One Female, One Male. Doesn't thing which breed, really.
One male, and one female. Doesn't matter which breed is which, newly that you have one of each rather than two alike sex. That way if you do end up beside two more dominant personality types, there will be less possibility of a fight, since in dog hierarchies there are both an alpha womanly and an alpha male in the packs.
I think this really depends on what type of owner/pack member you will be.
If you do not establish your role as commander-in-chief with these dogs, one of them will take the leader position. You do not want this to begin.
Dogs only make good leaders of the pack when they are within the wild.
A dog as leader of the pack among humans, creates all types of unwanted behavior problems. And near both of these dogs being powerful breeds, it is very important that you establish yourself as leading light from the start.
Most of us, do not understand what it means to be the leader contained by the eyes of the dog. We think that because we "own them", own the house, are bigger, tell them what to do, etc. they see us as leader. That is wrong.
Dogs solitary understand pack mentality and to be a good strong leader, you own to understand pack mentality too.

I am a professional dog walker and was amazed at what I did not know beforehand watching him.
I now use his techniques with adjectives the dogs I walk and have helped their owners to fix issues they have. It's amazing how simple this is.
