Why isn't my puppy consumption?
I have a 9 month old shih tzu puppy named Conner. For former times couple of days he hasn't been eating. We feed him twice a daytime (in the morning and at night around 5pm). We give Conner his food and he just sniffs it and afterwards walks away or backs absent from it (sometimes he only eats a couple of bites but other times he doesn't eat at all).
2 weeks ago we switched his food from Iams to Science Diet and he seem to LOVE the Science Diet then cause he would scarf it down.
A part of me is a moment or two worried because he's not eating like usual but the other part of me think that maybe Conner is going through a phase or something. So my question is why isn't Conner eating and is nearby anything I can do to get him to eat?
As Chuck said ... Switch back to the food you be feeding Conner before you switched. And everyday add somewhat bit more of the new food to his old food. Try that for about a week, whether that does not work make an appointment with the vet. You can also try some cooked white rice, it helped my puppy when she have a stomachache.
Try count a little water and warming the food slightly; this will arouse your dogs sense of smell and most possible he will eat.
My dog is very sensitive to raised voice and won't eat if there is a rowdy discussion contained by the kitchen where her food dish is (I think she feels she is mortal yelled at). Sometimes she will avoid her food dish for a couple of meals perhaps thinking whether she eats the yelling will start again. Just a thought.
Give canned pumkin. Just for a moment to get his attention.
Iams, Science Diet, Purina, Mighty Dog, Eukanuba was in the most deadly recall in pet food history. They have method too many grains and use meat by-products. They are not healthy food. Wheat, soy and corn are the 3 core allergies for cats and dogs. They cannot digest corn, and us humans can't either. Dogs need meat not grains. I'm certain that if we let our dogs go they wouldn't run to a corn grazing land or a wheat field for dinner. lol.
Find a food that doesn't have the grains and by-products.
Try, Wellness, Solid Gold, Wysong, Merrick, California Natrual, Innova, Chicken Soup. Good luck and try some pumpkin within it.
When you switch a puppies food, you need to do it slowely. You have to start adding increasingly of the new food every day. If you just switch, he won't conjecture it's food, and won't eat it, go back to the other food, and craft a slow transition to the new food. (about 7-10 days)
science diet is the best stuff to give him try getting him damp food to see if her will eat that most dogs prefer the wet over the dry
dogs sometimes go through picky stages, but they won't starve themselves. try mixing in a couple tablespoons of raining food along with the dry- sometimes it makes it more tempting. resist the urge to nurture human food, unless it is something like boiled chicken and rice.
Usually when they get hungry enough they will put away, unless it is a health problem. Make sure he is not getting anything to eat from somewhere else, and own him checked by your vet to eliminate any health problems. See if he will guzzle treats or some other food he really links. He may just be spoiled.
try feeding him something wispy scrambled egg or similar food we have a dog that will not eat dog food and eats anything human he is nearly 12 and we hold had him since 6weeks old hes fit good skin no robustness problems oh yeah and checks to see what everyone has before him.
Answers: Go to the vets, but until consequently, you are going to have to force feed him. Or maybe you should travel back to Iams. Perhaps there is something in Science Diet that made him sick.Or I don`t know its allergies. Our dog had allergies. He ate Eagle Brand food. He loved that.Any way, I hope Conner starts eating again soon! Best luck!

Try feeding Conner Baby Food. He will like the predilection, then add the regular dog food as he eats more.
Im sorry, whether you see him get sick, go to the vet.
But try to give him the chicken noodle flavor near maybe some Cottage Cheese or Banana Yogurt fruit cup thing.

If his poohs and peeing is normal, this could just be a phase he's going through. Try adding merely a little tinned Chappie (if you are in the UK because I don't know if this is available elsewhere?), or even pilchards into the mix. You could also put in just a teaspoon of natural yogurt into the mix.
It's true that sometimes puppies do this at around this age but be assured he won't starve himself, so if everything else is usual with him, put his food down, and if he doesn't eat up inside 10 minutes, take it up again and wait until the next nurture time. You can, incidentally refrigerate it overnight (or during the day if this happen with breakfast) but after that, chuck it. By the way, do not force feed him at this point! That's cruel and unnecessary and will set you up for a integral load of food-related problems.
Has your weather gone hot? Sometimes this can affect the appetite of a dog .. and you need to feed him before, and later in the day, when it get cooler.
