Why would a dog pee on his owners bed?
I have a 1/2 boxer, 1/2 boston terrier male dog. He's housebroke. i guess he had to move about to the restroom real bad this morning, i had tolerate him out, but somehow he got on my bed and pee'd a big puddle. my question is why my bed? why not the floor? do dogs pee on their owners bed for a reason. I've have Buster since he was 6 weeks old and he is spoiled. he should know better than to do that to me.
Because he's spoiled? idk
We go through this with a beagle. Every once in a while he would pee on our sons bed. We never truly came to the bottom of the whys but made it obvious to the dog that this was a no no. The theory of dominance is one best held. If the dog is spoiled you are going to have to manufacture it somewhat clear you are the alpha in the house. You may have to look at the way the two of you interact.
I also cannot relay you what it took to get that smell out of the matress. It took literally two weeks to dry after the deep cleaning it took, Prepare the couch to sleep on.
someone has said it.. but yes, it is a male and to be precise exactly how they show their territorial markings. He is claiming your bed as his territory. Terriers are a group of breeds that, if you contribute them an inch, they will take a mile!
Hmmm...have you done anything to formulate him mad? I would take him, put his nose within it and let him know without a question to be exact not acceptable, then put him in a crate. But that is to say how I train my dogs is with the crate and definite limits. I enjoy heard of dogs being upset with their owners tho and doin strange stuff so I don`t know that is why.
Answers: Peeing in the middle of a bed is not mark, dog do territory marking on the edges. Dogs will soil people's beds when they are frustrated or whether they sense too much tension in the house (known as frustration elimination). Some will do so if you vary a routine or the dog feels stress from another reason. Getting harsh next to a dog who is already frustrated or upset for other reasons will not stop this habit, and in reality can work to create the habit in some dogs.
Check and see if your library carry AKC Gazette magazines. The April 2008 magazine has an article on Male Marking which talks something like frustration elimination. My book also talks about the subject.

That can be a sign of male dominance. He marks you and your bed as HIS.
Neutering normally stops that.
If you didn't do anything to upset him next he is probably marking the bed and you as his. I have a spoiled boy too and I have not long had to put him in his place and show him who is boss. When you baby them they estimate of you as theirs. You need to be dominate so he knows you are boss then he will respect you and never do such things. Don't allow him on your bed for at smallest a couple of weeks and then only when you invite him. you have to set boundaries or I promise it will go and get worse. It is definitely dominance. Clean your mattress extremely well or he may smell it and do it again. best of luck
