Why would a nursing dog murder(not eat) another nursing dog's puppies?
This happened to my sister yesterday. She had two female dogs who give birth to puppies on the same day. They have both be very friendly with one another for about a year. These two dogs are similar to sisters. Then just the other day, one of them viciously killed(without eating them) adjectives the newborn puppies belonging to the other female. What would cause her to do this?? Is this common??
Now you know why so many on here say to stay out of the kitchen until you swot how to cook.
This is common behavior for an animal that is a predator. This is how they make certain that theirs will have dominance.
im thinking Sense they both have puppies they probably thought they where in harm.dogs would do anything to hang on to them procted..and i think it is common ...what kind of dogs where on earth they?keep the newborns away from the other set of newborn too.make sure the dog that killed the other feminine stay away form the other set of puppies
Answers: That's usual - that's why most people separate their dogs when there are puppies. It's just competition, I'd assume the one that kill the puppies is the top dog there and she's making sure there isn't any competition for her and her pups.
This happened because your sister is another unresponsible backyard breeder who doesn't have a clue. At lowest that will cut down on more unwanted pups who will most likely end up in shelters and man euthanized. Your Sister MUST get the dogs spayed.
Experienced breeders know that this can and does happen and to keep all dogs absent from a new mother and puppies at all times. Sorry your sister had to memorize the hard way.
This is quite common. That's why RESPONSIBLE, EDUCATED breeders hold all dogs away from new litters.
Tell your sister to procure her dogs spayed, ASAP, since she obviously knows nothing just about breeding.
Because apparently your sister does not know the BASICS of breeding dogs, which includes:
Keep ALL dogs other than the mother AWAY from the puppies.
This was not "vicious" by any stretch of the imagination. It be complete and utter stupidity on your sister's part and the DOGS are not to blame. Frankly, she's lucky one of her b*tches isn't dead!
What would inflict her to do this: Instinct. Only the Alpha breeds.. plus cute little squeaky pups that aren't yours are PREY! Yes, its VERY VERY common!
yes it is common a feminine dog will do this to show who is alpha
