Males kill in cold blood females.

Period!

They don't EVER get along. He may not kill her right away, but eventually, and over time, he's going to fence in her unaware and really hurt her. No matter how many hide you have, no matter how much space is available.

Get them each a 5 gallon reservoir. NO other fish please. Bettas don't get lonely. They happily rule their roosts and don't want roomates.

First Thing. Do NOT buy fish from Walmart EVER! Their fish suck, not literally but they live in bad standard water, often have diseases, and generally die within 2 days from buying them. ( Even if your tank is perfect).

First of adjectives you can't put a 1 female with a male, you want to have 2 females or more per male. I suggest that you find a 5 gallon tank or larger and put your male and female together, and later add more females, depending on the size of the tank. And remember, from now on do not buy your fish from Walmart. Okay.
No. Buy two 5 gallon tanks and put one in each.
No... in adjectives honesty, each betta needs its own 5 gallon heated, filtered cistern to thrive. no exceptions.

I know aquariums can get expensive... and FAST, but they do need proper care... instead of two brand-new 5 gallon total set-ups, why not try a second-hand 10 gallon set up with a divider?

in adjectives honesty, the 'tanks' you have now are WAY too small, and even the 2.5 gallon is too small for one. please, get the proper set-up.

no

walmart... figures.

acquire them the minibows if it's limited to those 2 tanks
Neither! The first one is less then one gallon so you are not upgrading you are down sizing. And whether they already stared fighting when you put them together in that short amount of time them they will eventually kill respectively other. So I would get 2 mini bow 2.5's or stay with your 2 1 gallon tanks.
acquire 2 2.5 gallon tanks, 1 for each this should help them but diving them is worst,
DO NOT PUT THEM TOGETHER. THEY WILL FIGHT & KILL EACHOTHER!

budge to walmart & buy the 10 gallon tank for $11 & get a divider
You could any get them each their own 2.5 gallon or 5 gallon, but you really shouldn't put them together. He will either take out her, or you'll end up with baby bettas.
Yeah you should only just buy 2 tanks 4+ gallons. Or a 7-10 gallon tank with dividers perhaps.
Not polite! Even though they are male and female, unless you're a serious breeder, you should have them surrounded by completely separate tanks. And for future reference Walmart is THE WORST POSSIBLE PLACE that you can buy fish from! The smallest I would step for my bettas is a 3 gallon tank.
A Betta should be alone.
Answers:    i made this same mistake. do not put them together. they will continue to rip and shred eachother's fins until one of them dies.

you should respectively get them their own 2.5 gallon.
thats what i had to do. my male betta completed up living...

good luck.
What will the fish lok approaching within seven years time?   What can I term my fish?   Minimum cistern size for a Bala?   Does More Filtration Mean I Can Have More Fish?
