2 jack dempseys contained by 29g reservoir?
thinking bout gettin 55g tank what u guys think...
the jacks are pretty small but one is slightly bigger and it bullies the other pretty bad, afaid it will exterminate it,add as much detail as possible please i like to read this kinda stuff thanks.
Answers: I would separate them. I have a jack dempsey in a 29g tank, with a few other cichlids that it gone alone. Then, I was given a convict jack dempsey that was half the size of my first jack, and it kill the larger jack dempsey. If there is ANY sign of aggression, separate them, or they'll stop at nothing to kill the other. Size doesn't issue, in my experience... only the aggression level of respectively individual.
You need the 55 at least. JD's are big, aggressive South American Cichlids. Remember to include a LOT of rocky caves and hiding places. This allows them to set up territories, which will cut down on aggression.
