A press almost not breeding angel fish?
Everything I look up on the computer keeps telling you how to breed angel fish. I don't want to breed them, because they have too frequent fry. I just want 2 fish for my tank. They say the males are longer. Will the pet store know males from females and is it advisable to newly have two of the same sex. Thanks
Angelfish are very difficult to sex, particularly when young. A rather difficult but very accurate method of sexing them is to look at the vent, surrounded by adult males, the area in front of the vent and only just behind the pectoral fins slopes sharply downwards, however this isn't evident in females.
There's no visible difference in the sexes till one lays eggs. If you had two females they would still lay eggs and guard them, they purely wouldn't hatch.
You could just get the one or if they did lay eggs, appropriate a net and knock them off whatever she laid them on. Even whether some hatched the parents wouldn't be guarding them and would probably eat them the same as any other fish contained by the tank.
Answers: it is hard to sex this type of fish...however whether you just get 2 random ones the likelihood are slim of them mating.
also pet stores that are knowledgeable will normally vend a mated pair together and that makes their price progress up knowing they are a mated pair and they will keep the mate pair together in a tank seperate from other angel fish
as a rule these are the mom & pop type stores that do this because they are a lot more knowledgeable than retail stores.
most employees contained by retail stores just know fish type but beyond that they are clueless..that is why i prefer a small, independant owned mom & pop type stores for their knowledge
hope this help
You could just buy two angelfish and if within are other fish in the tank you really wouldn't have to verbs about fry being raised. Angelfish are not smooth fish to keep. But the are without doubt my favorites. As was said angelfish are extraordinarily hard to sex and it takes a experinced eye to have even a lawfully good shot at telling males from females
no its pretty hard to sex them unless you've known them since they be fry and from the same batch. However, in a pet shop its impracticable until they've paired off. Putting two males in a tank you will conclude up with just one depending on the size of your tank
There are methods to GUESS the sex of the angelfish but its not 100% and you enjoy to be really good at it
What around letting them breed but including something in the tank that eats fry?
Or, try two females - whether you get them from a breeder not from a fish store you will know what you are getting
