We had one when I was younger that lived for nearly 3 years - their lifespan obviously depends on how well they're cared for.

If kept in a 2.5 gallon tank or larger possibly 4 - 5 years. That's whether it has a gentle filter with a slow current and a stove that will keep the tank at 78F - 80F and if the reservoir is cleaned out with a partial water change on an ongoing starting place, and the betta is fed once or twice a day 6 days a week and 1 day moved out for fasting to clear out his digestive tract.
