About how masses chiclid babies.?
live out of about 300-400? ok, 2 of our chiclids killed 2 of our other fish, but we soon found out that there be tiny baby chiclids swimming around in the tank, and we cogitate that they killed the fish because of protection of the babies. Well anyways, i was wondering about how lots usually live out of about 300-400 babies, now near are only the 2 chiclids (mom and dad) and our algae eater. The chiclids dont mess with the algae eater he just minds his own trade. the tank is a 55 gallon, and its fresh water. there are 2 oxygen pumps, and 2 filter with one heater. there are also 2 plants. so far none of the babies hold got into the filters, but they sure do close to the oxygen bubbles :). so i hope you fellow ya-hooligans can help!
if they do give birth separate the fish from the algae eater and the chiclids or they will kill him
What kind of cichlid is it? If they are dempseys, oscars or any other large cichlid resembling that, the pleco might be killed too. And most of the babies should live. If they are African cichlids, eh, depends. Ive never raised Africans myself, but most of them should live if you can achieve food to them.
Answers: Mostly South American cichlids, and that is how you spell it...c i c h l i d. lay eggs. Most Africans do not, but some species of them do. Kribensis are one, and I just started getting into Madagascar types myself and nearly all of those lay eggs as well. Saying you have egg lay cichilds doesn't say much let alone anyone can talk to you educatedely roughly survival rates without knowing what species you have. As a fish keeper, you should know as in good health. Based on the very limited information given here, my GUESS is you have Convicts?
If you bought these fish and didn't bother to ask or find out what species you get, please, post some pictures at least. While many cichlids that lay eggs are great parental care givers, it's possible within might be species that have a high mortality rate too. If I'm going to say what to expect, or anyone else that know what they are talking about for that matter, we'd HAVE to know the species whether you want a good accurate answer.
You will know whether the ciclids is goin to give birth by looking its jaw, usually its huge and something is contained by there because they are putting all the eggs in their mouth until the eggs hatch you have to separate them and close the tank with papers or something that can kind the tank darker, maybe 1 week the eggs will hatch i have seperated my 2 yellow ciclids and they give birth about maximum of 12 babies and immediately babies are gettings bigger. maybe the ciclids are small that is why they give small amount of eggs. I propose not to put fresh plants they make your tank filty even there is filter, especially if the fish are sick and you put medicine? the prescription will kills your plants and you will be surprised that your water is filty i suggest you pinch artificial plants. also ciclids eats plants. i hope this can help you Note:dont forget when the eggs hatched and you hold to get again the adult she will eat adjectives the babies. feed the babies with mashed fish foods.
