African Dwarf Clawed Frogs: Can i donate other fish to their container?
I have 3 African Dwarf Clawed Frogs in a 35L (UK) tank. I hold had them for a year and am wondering if i can add some tropical fish? Any suggestions and Do's or don'ts? Thanks
you could keep fish with your frogs, but be aware.too small a fish and the frogs will panorama them as food.too large and the fish will view the frogs as food.danios, tetras larger than neons, cherry barb and possbly dwarf cichlids[apistos, rams]goodluck.
Frogs are best left in species tanks, not kept beside fish.
Do you have African Dwarf Frogs or African Clawed Frogs? The Dwarfs only come in the brown and stay around 2", the Claweds come surrounded by brown and albino and get the size of a tennis ball.
If you have the Dwarfs the reservoir is fine, fully stocked, as long as its heated and well filtered, if you hold the Claweds, they need 35l-40l each minimum fully filtered, and will probably start attacking respectively other as they mature.
Answers: You involve to figure which you have, that's 2 different species there that you wrote.
There's African dwarf frogs-those are passive and stay small-1 inch range, and will get along fine with fish.
Then there's African clawed frogs. These grow larger, and will munch through smaller fish.
Albinos are clawed frogs, though sometimes mislabeled as dwarf frogs. Check all 4 of their feet. If they're all clawed, those are clawed frogs. Dwarf frogs will hold webbing on the front feet.
So, if you have true dwarf frogs, move about ahead and add some fish. Just make sure you seize fish that won't harass them. Most tropical community fish will be fine with them. The only item you need to watch for, dwarf frogs don't see very very well, and the fish usually end up taking all the food. So craft sure the frogs are getting enough to eat. Usually best to put their food down directly by them.
EDIT: My doomed to failure, saw the 35 and assumed it was gallons. For your tank size, and if you hold the dwarf varieties, I would say you could get absent with adding a single dwarf gourami or betta to the tank minus much problems. But that would be it.
Unless you are willing to bring back a larger tank, you don't have room for anything else-
