African Dwarf Frog question?
I have a empty 10 gallon tank beside a heater and filter. There is currently no fish inside of my 10 gallon tank. I was thinking abot getting some african dwarf frogs(NOT african clawed frogs) and putting them within the 10 gallon tank. Some questions I had be...
1.What is a good amount of African Dwarf frogs that I can put in a 10 gallon tank?
2. What is a moral plant I can put with the african dwarf frogs in the tank?
3. What do african dwarf frogs drink. I heard they eat freeze-dried bloodworms.
4. How much in American money does freeze-dried bloodworms cost?
5. Are african dwarf frogs entertaining pets?
6. DO you recomend African dwarf frogs?
7. Have you ever owned any african dwarf frogs? whether so what was that experience like?
Thanks!
Answers: Go through this site, it's pretty good next to some good info on ADF's. On the left side of the screen it have links for the clawed frogs, and further down for the dwarf frogs.

1. That site says 1 gallon of water per frog. 10 seems close to a lot though, I'll mention why on #3.
2. Don't think it'll matter. Any plant should be fine beside them.
3. I would recommend staying away from freeze dried foods. ADF's don't see very well, and they will "snap"at food that they see floating by them sour to the side. You can put something directly in front of them, and they don't see it. Mine loved frozen blood worms(thaw all frozen foods first in a bowl near some tank water), frozen brine shrimp and krill, shrimp pellets, flake food, etc. Mine didn't care for the Frog Bites. Seemed they be too hard and were spit out. Freeze dried foods tend to stay at the top of the tank, and frogs put away off the bottom. Also you want to make sure to put the food close them as well, that's why I think with 10 frogs within a tank, it'll be too difficult to make sure they're adjectives eating. It is common for these guys to starve, especially when kept next to fish.
4. Frozen foods generally run about 4-5.00 for a package. And a bag should last awhile. Flake foods and shrimp pellets, 2-3.00 on average for a can, which will also last awhile.
5. Not really lol.Every so repeatedly they'll dart to the surface for a gulp of air, that's kinda funny to watch. Otherwise, they're usually purely hanging out at the bottom. They are cute though.
6. Sure, they're not a bad pet.
7. I've had 2 over the years. Like I said, not bleak, not one of my favorite aquatic critters. I would buy them again if I had the appropriate set up.
Also hold on to in mind, a lot of fish stores mislabel fish and frogs. Be certain you're getting an ADF and not a ACF. There are no albino ADF's, those are all clawed frogs, even though the label may say otherwise. And, manufacture sure all 4 of the feet are webbed, which is an ADF. With ACF's, I feel they're front feet are clawed and back feet webbed-or it is possible to find them next to their hind feet webbed on occasion. Good luck! And good profession doing your research first!
1. The rule for ADFs is 1 gallon per frog, so you could have 10 but personally I wouldn't put more than 7 just to bequeath them a bit more room. Make sure you have some hiding places for them as well.
2. Any adjectives plant would be fine.
3. They can eat:
Live guppy fry : or any type of livebearer fry
Frozen or Freeze Dried Brineshrimp
Frozen or Freeze Dried Bloodworms or Glassworms
HBH Frog and Tadpole Bites
Reptomin
Gammarus
Frozen Beefheart
Frozen or Freeze dried krill or baby shrmp
Earthworms or nightcrawlers choped into small bite sized pieces
I tried feeding mine different types of flake foods (tropical, betta, goldfish) but they wouldn't get through them. They prefer a meaty diet. Be careful not to overfeed them, they only need to drink once a day, the amount they will eat in 1 minute.
4. You can buy them at any store that sell fish supplies for about $4. These are the ones I use http://www.petco.com/product/3315/Tetra-... I also give my frogs freeze dried brine shrimp (Tetra brand) and and freeze dried tubifex worms (Hikari brand), they are the same price as the bloodworms. It is correct to give them a variety of foods. With freeze dried foods, you should put some of the tank hose in a small bowl and soak the food for a few minutes before feeding them to your frogs, this means of access they will not expand in your frogs stomach.
By the way, they are bottom feeders so you need to brand sure that the food goes to the bottom of the tank. Freeze dried foods float, but you can buy a long set of two of tweezers (usually found in the reptile section of pet stores) and dangle the food next to their obverse until they snatch it, this is what I do and it works great.
5. I think they can be entertaining, especially when you feed them. Sometimes they don't move around much.
6. I own 2 ADFs in a 5 gallon tank with my womanly betta.
7. I like them, I think they are cute and add assortment to aquariums. You MUST have a secure lid on your tank near no openings because they will jump out and they do not survive long out of water.
Here is a accurate website about them: http://frogworld.net/african-dwarf-frog/
