Aggressive peacock bass?
Is a peacock bass aggressive ? Can they defend themselves about 2 inch?
I wouldnt say they are pugnacious per se, but a bit overfond of eating whatever they can, and when another fish gets between them and food, they can find nasty. As for defending themselves at 2 inches long, it depends. they are tough enough, but they cant defend themselves from a fish explicitly more than an inch longer than themselves, and even then they would be stressed out.
Peacock Bass are aggressive though more importantly they can easily get over 2' and own very large mouths that will easily fit a 1' fish. A friend be the first person to breed these in captivity and his male be getting close to 3'. In terms of defending themselves, yes they can do this though it depends what they are defending themselves from. No 2" fish can defend itself from a 10" that wants to drink them or a turtle that is going to take a bit out of it. We need more info. and whether you really want peacock bass you need a bigger tank.
shelter against what?
The speckled peacock bass is the largest species and can grow up to 99 centimeters (three feet, four inches) in length. The royal peacock bass is the smallest and grows to a maximum length of 55 centimeters (one foot, 10 inches)
Answers: It's a Cichlid. Cichlid's have attitude. Defend themselves against what precisely? This is a very large predatory fish that can be territorial and should only be kept contained by very large aquaria with similar sized robust fish. If it's 2" immediately, it's a mere fry and should get up to 15"-24".
