Beta turning white and bloating?

My roommates beta, which I adopted 8 months ago due to her negligence, was a very rushed active fish.
Lately, about 2 weeks ago, its eyes began to turn blue/white and, his stomach is bloating, and scales are coming bad. I assume he's dying but I want to know why. I havent changed what I've been feeding him and have not done anything different. Any philosophy?

That sounds like symptoms of Dropsy. It's a fish disease and betas are prone to it.

go to a pet store tomorrow
or nowadays if its sunlight
and get some medicine (ask pet store ppl which one)
cuz you could squirrel away his life
