Betta cant swim, Help?
My betta cant swim to the top to well, i have him on low water right in a minute so that he can breath, i put salt, and conditioned the water. Im planning to feed him some peas, is this a swim bladder problem? Thnx =]
if is a swim bladder problem then he would float so i deliberate you're fine
Yes I believe it is as long as he seem fine with low water keep it that opening If its bothering you maybe you can exchange him at a fish store Good Luck...
Answers: swim bladder problems that can be cured by peas will end in floating...
is he new? he may have been born near a defective swim bladder.
has he recently be injured or sick? sickness and injury can cause damage to the swim bladder that either never get better or takes a looong time to get better.
either channel, there is no need to flush him or "put him down" he can live a mostly normal time with swim bladder problems.
I have a male right very soon who I rescued. he has a terrible time swimming so once his other illnesses are cured he'll be going in a heated, filter, 6.5gallon tank that is only 6" high :) he wn't have far to go to get to the surface but he'll be surrounded by a great home for him... I am making it out of a lizard carrying cage, a sponge filter, and a heater. perhaps it's something for you to look into.
IF neither of these things are applicable... it may be something more serious. how long has it been going on?
