Betta Fish.Help setting up bowl?

I have a one gallon plastic tank for a betta fish. Now, I have a few question:

1. What kind of substrate should I get? (i.e. gravel, rocks, none)

2. What kind of decor should I gain? (pictures are welcome)

3. What color betta (red, dark blue or turquoise-ish?)

Alright, since you said no lectures, I'm assuming you know what you're getting into and the dangers. =]]]

1. Colorful gravel.
2. Don't overdo it since you just have a one gallon. If you over decorate, it won't have too much space to swim! I'd win some small live plants. No plastic as they are hard and can rip the betta's fins. Real plants are softer and won't rip the fins. =]
2. I like royal blue but that's just me. =] I contemplate that white wouldn't be so bad either.

Wouldn't mind a pale butterfly male either:

First off I have a masculine betta named Sabastain. And in his tank theres colorful gravel (about an inch) and theres little plant type of things (fake) and for a while seahorse decoration. He is also housed with Gidget (pleco). Also make certain you have a air rock (they come with the 1 gallon tank, so you should be covered on that) And make sure if you use video water to get some Bowl Buddies to take out the chlorine within the water. Chlorine will kill your betta so be careful. I would recommend not putting two bettas within the same tank (they are very territorial) Oh and I really close to the mixed red and blue ones. I had a pink one and they are awesome looking.

P.S. Sabastain has a red body (pinkish red) and his fins are red and blue mixed! He is so cute!
Rocks, a little house and tree. Make certain the rocks are placed safely. My last beta died getting caught in them. I resembling red because they should up nicely. Have fun.
hnm. sorry but any RESPONSIBLE and EDUCATED fish keeper can't in polite conscience give you advice on how to IMPROPERLY care for a fish.

bettas DO entail heaters, whether you want to hear it or not. switch to a 2g bowl and get a 7.5watt heater and you'll be fine. if you can't fiddle with the thought of having to add an extra gallon to cause the home suitable for the fish, then you shouldn't have one.

it's roughly like saying "how should I set up my 15g for my oscar? and dont tell me it's not fitting enough, just answer the question"

even with something as simple as a betta, refuse to give it proper care is CRUELTY.
I think that making a intuitive looking fish tank is the best way to go. I'd propose you do have a substrate otherwise the betta's wastes will collect on the bottom and there will be zilch for beneficial bacteria to grow on. Darker coloured natural gravels look smaller amount dirty and make your fish look brighter. Bright colourd gravels can make your fish stressed. Real plants are also nice, fish like have something to swim through. If you get a plant in a pot or on a piece of driftwood, it will be more expensive, but most plants don't grow very capably just in gravel. If the tank doesn't come next to a background, I suggest black or blue depending on the colour of your betta, black will make blues stand out, blue will construct reds stand out. And my favourite coulours of betta are the red ones.
1. i like the sand substrates... straightforward to see excess food and poops, easy to clean.
2. i've bought those twisting lucky bamboo stalks contained by the past and put a few of those in the tank on angles next to the tops poking out. looks cool, especially when the roots poke up out of the sand. they also help keep the hose down just a little bit cleaner. (just a bit) my bettas all really like having somewhere to perch or hide inside of, like a sunken ship near holes up on it's end or a cool peice of driftwood. just a little chunk. whether you get and ornament make certain there are no sharp edges as they easily tear their fins. same go for plastic plants. don't get them, get silk ones instead.
3. the colour is up to you and i would chose something that complemements your decor in the cistern. I'm not sure if those are your fav colours to chose from or if those are the single ones you've seen but there are some other, very striking colours of bettas. check out the knit below! also consider half moon tail, crown tail, delta tails etc.. so many option out there!

have fun! also watch for personality as you'rebuying. believe it or not they vary as much as dogs and cats with temperments.
Answers:    pretty simple fish to keep

1. buy some fish gravel or rocks at the pet store in the fish supply aisle (you won't involve much)

2. A little plastic plant that won't take up too much space in the bowl. You can also purchase this at the pet store

3. I personally resembling the dark red ones, as well as the dark blue and red combined which nearly look purple on some of them.

They need no filters or pumps as they live in puddles contained by the wild.
Good luck.
DONT KEEP FISH

due to your Additional Details i dont think you should be keeping fish if you cant are for them
What type of fish should i buy?   Does anyone here breed livebearers for their other aquarium fish?   How do I budge just about cleaning my fish container?   Freshwater tropical fishtank?
