Note how you can only see 1 fish, most of the time my fish are hiding but they come out at feeding time,
Im bored next to the way its set up and im bored with my combination of fish :
3 Electric yellows
1 Nimbochromis Venustus cichlid
1 Maylandia Hajomaylandi
1 peacock
2 bristlenose catfish
5 'coolie' loaches
It feels 'yellow' and im freshly down right over my tank 'look' The venustus is a female and all the rest are males but it still seem dull. What can i do? I still love my fish but i feel like a switch. HELP!!
(im open to decorating ideas and restocking concept =) )
looks resembling a nice tank you could take out some of the slates to make it hold more room
I know that cichlids are a more aggressive fish. I don't know much about the rest of your fish but they probably are hiding from each other. Try the smaller number aggressive fish next time. Danios & tetras (they are schooling fish so you have to get them within groups) are fairly active and usually out and roughly speaking. I used to get my fish at Petsmart and on their tag they would say whether the fish were top, middle, bottom feeders. Try to get fish that will go contained by all 3 parts of the tank. I didn't see a background within your pictures. If you pick a bright colored one that will lighten it up.
I would try and take the plants out donate more rock work and more cichlids
Throw a piranha in there, it will liven things up.
Answers: Nice tank - I would keep your 2 bristlenose and maybe see give or take a few switching out some of the other large fish. Your local live fish store may be willing to trade with you. Sometimes they will help yourself to your fish and give you store credit. That way you could look at some of the other colors of freshwater fish to see what you want. Bristlenose plecos are excellent for keeping the algae down in the container. You could even add a few more for that size tank. There are a lot of colorful freshwater fish. Here is a website that shows some of what are available.

swordtails, mollies, platies, killifish, tetras, and guppies adjectives have a wide range of colors and you could even hold small schools of more than one type.
Here is a website on the different types of cichlids -

You may find one or two that would do well in a mixed cistern with some of the smaller schooling fish.
I would get a black backing - that alone would make things stand out much more.
you can try colorful gravels and new background, next to now plants. about fish you can get some gouramis, glofish, tiger barb, black widow fish, and chinese algae eater...those are some of the fish i have and they really amaze me because each of them have different interesting behaviors and are pretty to scrutinize.
