Bristlenose catfish surrounded by 1 gal. Should i amendment hose?
I have a (please note) 1cm catfish in a 1. somthing gal tank. Hes with the sole purpose in it untill he is big enough to be moved in my 10 gal (the filter is death-defying lol) and finally into my 100 gal. So im growing him out basically. Hes what i think about 4 weeks prehistoric now and ive had him this 1 gal for almost a week, Should i make over the water (and use water from my other tank) Or is he small enough to not create much of ammonia? Should i adaptation the water or not? He was in my 100 gal beforehand this and i found him as a suprise!! Thanks Angel
Bristlenose catfish are like tanks man it wont hurt the baby but they do poop alot so it would be a upright idea to change the water
Keep up the water change...
With no filter you are relying on whatever cycle that can be established on the gravel and ornaments, which in a 1gal is not very much. Water change give you added insurance against ammonia buildup
But if you can keep up the river quality the little fish will be OK in there for a while.
You can find little miniture power filters that could fit in that tank, might be a cheap investment. The Bristlenose wont caution if the current is high in the tiny reservoir.

okay its only a 1 gallon tank.. it wont take you long to amendment the water so why not.
Answers: I still think that it's great you found him and I'm glad he's doing fine! There's nothing like watching them grow right from the greatly start of their lives, is there?! It's just too sweet! I think whether you used water from your 100 gal and changed it every few days he would be o.k. for the short term. Or Lan's answers are most always a protected bet too as you probably already know.
