Can fancy Goldfish contained by be kept within a pond contained by winter?
So I wanted about 200-300 gallon pond. I want to put some fancy goldfish can I keep them within there in the winter with a de icer? I am surrounded by an area where it is cold but not -40 Celsius
No, because fancy goldfish aren't wonderful swimmers as the comets and koi are. Fancy goldfish were bred to be spoiled :D.
Ditto. If it is a fancy goldfish and it cost deeply, with the economy on the edge, I would propose you but it in a tank and wait until the winter is over. Instead, try putting lively objects around your pond.
no, fancy goldfish will not survive a winter in a pond next to any sort of ice-making temperatures.
i don't really know to be fair and honest, but i would step on the safe side and let your fish move into a nice tank surrounded by your house. I think it would be ok but i am not too sure
Fancy goldfish cannot, because of their selective breeding they may have fascinating body shapes, but they are much less hardy than the more colloquial types of goldfish. fancies need to be brought inside for the winter.

Answers: As a breeder I can assure you yes they can winter outside a moment ago fine. Their body shape has nothing to do with the hibernation state. NO deicer is needed.
You must follow the rules however for winterizing your pond. Once the dampen temps drop below 55 stop feeding all together and pull the filter component. Once ice is on the pond, do not attempt to break the ice Doing this in a preformed pond will distribute shock waves thru the water and kill your fish. Just agree to the pond winter. In the spring when the ice is off and the water warm above 55 you can (if you choose to feed( start feeding again. You will need to remove any debris from the year up to that time. Take extra care that there are no fry contained by the water. Some fish will spawn right before hibernation. Start your filter and you are ready to dance.
I am outside of Pittsburgh PA and all my koi and goldfish are housed outside during the winter.
