Can ich be immune to rid ich ?

I have been treating ich with rid ich+ for 8 days. It seem to be getting better, but today the fish are completely covered in the ich. I hold my tank temperature at 82, and I don't have the carbon contained by my filter. Is it possible for this ich to be immune to the medicine? If so, what else can I do to save my fish?
Yes like the first person said near are different types of Ich. Some are more resistant to medications. So yeah in a way they can build up an imperviousness. Most of the time the reason they come back it because they never left.

Ich is tricky and basically because it looks like it is gone means nothing. Ich can hind within the gills, mouth, nose of the fish totally out of sight. Treating for 14 full days is best. Also like he said WATER CHANGES!!

Water change are KEY to keeping parasites at bay. The more water change you do the more parasites you get out of the tank so the smaller quantity you and the fish will have to deal with. use the gravel vac and you can pinch some decorations and stuff out rub them down with salt and rinse in steaming hot wet.

I have use Rid Ich it worked well but I hate malachite green. It is a low and NASTY chemical. I don't like having is in the house. Caution Causes cancer and birth defect but yet we make our fish swim in it. No thank you.

I hold switched to Coppersafe. I bought a copper test kit so I can keep an eye on the copper level. That's where people have problems when using it. If you don't own enough in the water it will not work. If you hold too much your fish will suffer. So a test kit will help you hang on to it all in check you need it to be 1.5 - 2.0. Also coppersafe treats Fluke and anchor worm too. Rid ich does not effect them much.

IF they are getting your strength back keep doing what you are doing but do water changes since you add your next dose.

Then as a preventive you could try using Copper. They say the copper will stay within the water for up to a month. If you do water changes you requirement to add more to keep the levels up.

I know ich can be a big headache to treat. I have been there.

PS survey out for any secondary infections that's what will end up killing your fish.
ask doctor or call

Answers:    I remember talk on some fish forums a few years posterior about some strains of ich becoming resistant to the ich meds and the salt/heat method. That's why so many those were advocating to be sure to verbs treatment for at least 3-5 days after you saw the last spot on the fish, or roughly 3 weeks.

I know with ich, the fish will obtain really bad before they get better. That's because of the vivacity cycle of the parasite. You increase the temperature so they go through their life cycles quicker, since they're singular killed off during their free swimming stage. But that does seem strange that they seem to improve and then got really discouraging.

Rid Ich contains both malachite green and formalin, the 2 ingredients you're going to find in just about adjectives ich meds. So another product won't necessarily help you. You could do a medium size water exchange, vacuuming the gravel and decorations really good, put your carbon in and remove the meds, then try Coppersafe. I know profusely of people don't like copper meds, I have used it surrounded by the past for some problems and had no issues with it.

Or, of late continue with the treatment the way you're doing and ride it out. Make certain you do frequent water changes and vacuum the gravel and such really good-that also helps remove some of the ich. You may own some casualties, from it though. Good luck!
