Clownfish for a 10gallon cistern?

My aunt is giving me her fish tank for me to go to college and it is a 10 gallon tank. I other wanted to get clown fish but I don't know if it is a righteous size tank for them. Help? Also, if it is an ok size tank how tons should I put in it?
i have to diagree with FRF for a moment and influence that i see no reason why a single male occelaris or percula clownfish cannot live in a 10 gallon container

however.. i agree that this tank is a little unrealistic at this point of your life

store your money and time for school and get a proper (larger :D) tank once you're out of arts school..

in the meantime research as much as you can
I have some good communication and some bad news for you sarah:

first the bad communication:
there is absolutely no way that you could hold on to even one clownfish in that tank.

now the devout news:

You came here and found that out, rather than have an upsetting ordeal trying to save a doomed fish!

Unfortunately, you lack the experiance or tank space to hang on to a clownfish. however, you could keep a beautiful little tropical aquarium. it would be cheap, beautiful, and comfortable to work with. in a tank that size, you could hold on to:

1 dwarf gourami
6 cardinal tetras
4 dwarf corydoras

this would be a beautiful and simple setup.

Answers:    I agree with both above answers. You both raise angelic points.

I've had years of experience keeping smaller saltwater tanks and can say next to confidence that it is possible to keep a clownfish in a 10 gallon. I had a tot maroon clown in my tank for a few years until he out grew it.

But contained by all honesty, I wasted most of my money on my saltwater tanks and never have enough for supplies for school. So with that experience, I come up with you should use the 10 gallon for a fresh water tank!

Go buy yourself two fluorescent bulbs that fit the canopy and voila! You hold enough light to have some live plants. Eventually you can upgrade to a larger reservoir or keep the 10 gallon as a small hobby!

It takes so much time for saltwater, especially when first starting out.

I tender the thumbs up to making it a freshwater tank!

What can I put contained by my 5 gallon aquarium?   Another ask something like fish tank?   How do I start a black dampen fish container?   Is it okay to turn the desk light bad surrounded by a fish container at darkness?
