Could I preserve a blood copier and some african cichlids within a 29 gallon reservoir?
just wondering.
im not good with aggresive fish. lol.
Not a good idea. African cichlids are very territorial and are best kept near species from the same area as they are found in.
Its not a apposite idea. The blood parrot will get passageway too big for that tank. Mine is bigger than a sandwich plate and will not tolerate fish that are much smaller than she is in her tank next to her.
Answers: All cichlids are aggressive by compairson really. Like compared to most live bearer or schooling fish, yes they are aggressive, but aggressive within their own species varies. Blood Parrots are not even closely related to any African species, and in reality, besides the size difference of the Parrot, a parrot is a man made fish, it's not even a true species. They tend to prefer and need softer more acidic type waters consequently Africans, which prefer and need harder more alkaline waters.
Now you tank the 29 gallon factor, it's really not much space. You probably could get absent with a parrot or 2, but forget the Africans. In terms of the space, the individual African option that would really work would be Mbuna, but the water difference really makes this not on. If this were a larger tank, it's quite possible to engender it work out, but not in a compressed tank of this size. I'd say it's one or the other.
i don't mull over so. I have a parrot, and she is pretty big. I wouldn't recommend putting her in a 29 gallon cistern.
