Does anyone know going on for tropical fish?
why is my red tailed shark so vicious to my other fish? he never used to be, its ever since he has got bigger. the only fish he doesnt attack is the angel fish and the japaneese warfare fish.
Because Red tailed sharks are aggressive fish that's how they are once they start to mature. If you did some research on the fish before you bought it this would not be a surprise to you.
Sorry that is only how they are and it will not get better. You might want to think about finding him another domestic or get him his own tank. They are mean fish and its single a matter of time till he starts to go after the other fish.
The red tails are actually known to be a bit aggressive and territorial when they capture bigger. Especially with their own kind. About the only entity you can do is make sure he has plenty of his own cave, plants, or other hiding spots to claim and don't get any more red tails. Its perfectly run of the mill for them. I had a little one who tried to bully my large copier fish who was plenty big enough to eat him but the little red tail other held his ground.
Answers: I use to have one of these along time ago. They will become territorial when only one is in the container at a time. Since he is bigger he may not like a new smaller one added to the tank. Mine use to come out of hiding when he saw another fish jump by and would chase after it. For the most part, single small fish in a community tank will be shy whether there are other fish in the tank, particularly if those other fish are larger. Also, if the tank is small, prevailing conditions to larger size fish that are semi-aggressive tend to get picky with fish. I found that to be true when I had my bala sharks within a 29 gallon tank, they would chase after each other and fight adjectives the time.
duh you can't put a fighting fish surrounded by with other fish it makes the other fish mean!!
