Fish dieing when self touched?

If a fisherman catches a fish and throws it back, what are the chances whether it dieing because the fisherman took some of the protective slime coating off? Are the chances the same as adjectives aquarium fish?
ahh they will survive whether their slime is taken off but where the hook is is a different storry their survival depends mostly on how long they are out of water and where on earth the hook is i got a largemout bass i got and i use a towel to get him past its sell-by date the hook and hes good now i've had him approximately 3-4 months and i think their slime comes back pretty fast
Fish constantly secrete more slime, so they can quickly replenish what is lost. Think of it resembling getting a graze on your skin. You might be really unlucky and get a nasty infection and die, but chances are that you wont. But you dont want to capture grazed skin every day do you.

Many fishermen and scientists that do catch and release put a tag within the fish, so if it's caught again they can see how much it grew or migrated. There are lots of fish swimming about with several tag in them now, so most of the time they survive and heal.

It is not the loss of the slime coat that will assassinate a fish caught by the fisherman, it is the damage done by the hook and its removal.
