Freshwater aquarium anyone treated beside Quick Care. Treating for Ich, can anyone give a hand, please?
I'm not sure if it's too late, but I started treating right when I notice salt like specks inside the fins, although I did notice them have clamped fins earlier..
I accidentally added too much ammonia remover and assumed the fish were stressed by that, hence the clamped fins... But, I guess it could be both. I only hope I can treat the wet in time to eventually be able to add more fish...
I've be changing 20% of the water daily, conditioning the unmarked tap water prior to adding to the container. Then adding the appropriate amount of Aquarium Salt to further the fish disease treatment, and finally, the Quick Cure solution is added.
I'm not sure how long I'm supposed to resume treating the tank, 'raison d`¨ētre i know there are three cycles the parasites go through: full-grown phase, cyst phase, and then the finding a host phase...
I don't see anything on the bottom of my tank but fish poop, and I don't see any major lumps on my fishes, so I assume they're still within phase one...
How long should I keep to treatment mode? How can I tell when the tank is completely undisruptive so I can add more fish?
Also, can I leave my wood inside? I'm afraid it might absorb some of the medication and mess beside my water once the quarantine is done... I took it out before I treated the water.
I know the wood have tannins in it, which is good for the fish, but I'm afraid it'll absorb the medication... Also, I boiled the wood for 15 minutes on both ends (long wood), next I placed it in the 50 gallon tank. I wonder if it have ANY tannins left for the fish.. still, it's good decoration whether the tannins are all gone :P.
Help! Please and thanks!

Answers: you can also raise the temp of the reservoir slowly to around 86F (depending on your fish but most will tolerate this) to help speed up the life cycle of the ich parasites.(make certain your water is properly aerated as the o2 levels will decrease near the medication and the temp rise) usually treatment should go about a week from the second sighting of an ich spot. you're doing everything else right with water changes and saline... (i personally hate quick cure b/c it's so toxic and i can't use it surrounded by my tank b/c i have scaleless fish -loaches) as far as the wood... i'd say honourable call in taking it out... i would do the same, but not certain if it's necessary. And you'll know if your wood is releasing ample amounts of tanins if your tank water turns amber contained by colour. there's probably small amounts still being released into the water, and regardless i bet your fish are loving it anyways! my fish always poke around the driftwood i own in my tank.
i like fish too
