Goldfish next to tetras?

i have one goldfish about 3inches long that daughter got from fiesta 2 1/2 yrs ago. I know they let off ammonia but would it be safe to mix it within with a 30 gallon tank of tetras?also how many freshwater fish should be surrounded by a 30 gallon tank?
No becuase they require different water conditions. Tetras need warm hose down and gold fish need colder water. You could put 7-15 tetras surrounded by a 30 gallon tank depending on the size.
goldfish are cold water fish, and tetras are tropical fish, and there is no middle ground. its not recommended to procure both, besides, you can get 2 more goldfish if you have a 30 gallon cistern so just get 2 more thats the safe method. And also to answer your question about how oodles fish can fit in the tank, different species need different requirements so it vary
Depends on the tetra, I hate how people on here utter goldfish are coldwater and cant be mixed with tropical, while thats partially true (goldfish do live in colder waters than seriously of fish), theres no set temp that signifies if the fish is "coldwater" or "tropical", plus most goldfish can live in a temp as high as 75degrees and a great deal of tropical fish can live in temps below 70, THERE IS A MIDDLE GROUND, it all depends on your tanks fixed temp so some fish can be mixed with goldfish (as far as temperature is concerned). Good tetras for a coldwater tank are blind grotto, bloodfin and buenos aries (my source for this is Aquarium USA's article on keeping a coldwater tank so anyone wants to disagree then surface free to read it yourself). Anyways goldfish will get too big and may end up eating tetras so its not the best belief due to size. How many fish in a 30gal depends on species, ITS NOT 1'' per gallon
The only point you should put in with gold fish is goldfish.

Not simply that, but you should only put similar gold fish together, for example, no fancy gold fish next to faster common type gold fish.

They have different requests in terms of water conditions and temperature, and faster fish will eat all the food before slower fish can acquire enough.
Answers:    Tetras especially false and blood fins are great tank mate for goldfish.

All tetras are and tetras are also classified cold water. goldfish don't "Let off" ammonia all fish produce waste which is within the form of ammonia.

Yes I keep tetras with goldies. Keep the water temperature above 65 and you are fine. (usually around 74 is perfect for both.

How many fish would depend on what kind and how oodles of each you are planning on keeping. Fancy goldfish are fine in a 30 with a group of tetras. Gold fish do not entail 20 gallons of water each, especially fancy's.

PS> Any fish that lives within fresh water is tropical. Salt water is marine and brackish is basically brackish. There are no coldwater definitions in tropical, ANY fresh water fish. (It be a bogus selling point to mean exotic used for sales in stores. Kind of close to the 1 inch of fish rule.
You could i have a 5 inch goldfish i get from the fair in my 20 gallon and it is doing pretty good. also remember for one gallon u can put a one inch fish within.
No. Because goldfish are a coldwater fish. And tetras are tropical. They require different water conditions. First off, your goldfish should be alot longer than that if its 2.5 years prehistoric. Im guessing you kept it in a bowl or a tank less than 10 gallons. The goldfish won from fair grow 12-16 inches and require at least a 75 gallon tank...

Tropical fish should not be mixed with coldwater. Goldfish should not be mixed next to any other type of fish. And goldfish need large tanks. 30 gallons is not hulking enough, but being you already stunted it like you own, it doesnt have much life left contained by him. Goldfish live 15-20 years. Yours wont make it past 5.
