p.s my fish is called jemima

please help!
it sounds like he has swim bladder disorder you can get treatment at your local fish shop so thats what i would do.
It would be helpful to know what character of fish this is.

This is a classic symptom of distress, and often a symptom of disease. The very first thing to do is check your wet. Make sure you have no ammonia or nitrites in your hose, and if you do, perform a 50% water rework. For several days make sure you perform a 25% river change until the levels go to not anything.

Secondly, this may be a symptom of disease. Swimbladder disease can cause the fish to swim awkwardly, but the cause is hard to diagnose. You may want to put the fish surrounded by a quarantine tank with good filtration and aeration, but shallow river, as this can help. Secondly, I would add some salt to the river (if your fish can tolerate water hardness, i.e. is not a tetra or amazon fish, marine brackish is best), since electrolyte imbalance can cause this.

Either way, produce sure your fish is not stressed, has proper water talent, and does not exhibit other symptoms.
its probably swim bladder you should give him a cooked pea and crush it and bestow him it
There could be any number of cause. Poor water conditions cause many. Temperature too low for tropicals or too lofty for goldfish, dirty water, pH too high or too low, ammonia and nitrates too high, etc.
It would give a hand to know the fish species, size of container, whether aeration and filtration are used, how often you clean and do partial water change. These are important in the care of fish.

Answers:    While it COULD be swim-bladder disorder, this problem is more likely dietary-related. Try this:

Fast Jemima for 3 days - ie, don't nurture her for 3 days.
After those 3 days, feed her defrosted and/or blanched, shelled, mushed peas - again, for 3 days.

If this works, the problem was the method of feed - NOT a problem with the swimbladder (which is relatively rare). Dry foods expand when they take on water - whether or not the fish have consumed the food is irrelevant as the flakes/pellets will continue to expand inside the fish, causing constipation and gas build-up which counter-act the swimbladder's ability to keep hold of the fish upright and the fish upends.

To avoid this in the future, crush and soak dry foods (particularly flakes) surrounded by tankwater before feeding so that most of the expansion has already taken place by the time Jemima feed.

Swimbladder disorder is a LOT more difficult to treat and requires real antibiotics from a vet qualified in treating fish.

Also, if you haven't done so already, consider increasing her diet. There's loads of things available:

Daphnia
Brine shrimp
Tubifex (freeze-dried ONLY - fresh and frozen take disease risks)
Cucumber
Lettuce (Romaine)
Cyclops
Courgette
Bloodworm

And THAT'S just the beginning.
It sounds similar to your fish is dying. Seriously.

It happened to our goldfish a while ago. It did the same thing. And my friend's goldfish started swimming on its side formerly it died. If it's a goldfish and white spots are appearing on it, then put a 2p coin in the water. The copper does something to cure the fish. No prank. Other than that, if you care for the fish I'd get pet-shop abet sharpish.
We have a fish do this and my marine biologist mother-in-law stuck a pin in him and it fixed it. The swim bladder can get blocked up so it will not deflate properly and this relieves it. Of course it would be a right idea if you know how to locate the swim bladder before you progress poking holes in your fish. Maybe your local pet store can help. On the bright side, that fish lived another 2 years and had no reoccurence.
Fish who do swim upside down are sick. It could be a swim bladder problem, a bacterial infection, a fungal infection, or constipation. Do frequent large hose down changes, feed less, treat for microbes and fungus.
same thing happen to my fishes. A few days later i found them dead in our pond. See a vet?
Take a cooked pea and crush it and impart it to him as food. It should cure him.
Hunny get ready to flush Jemima... ours did this and by the end of the daytime was laying in the bottom of the container. They dont live long Im sorry. Ours was doing back flips. like within slow mo. and yeah upside down. Nothing you can do just find a new fish if you enjoy kids before they find out. makes it easier.. Good Luck.
Could be feeding it too much, they get swim bladder.
either hes so fat he cant stay up or,

hes most likely gonna elapse away soon.
research swimming bladder disease.
Sounds like swim bladder try a pea take the skin off and crush this may minister to. Good Luck
Sorry, but he's probably going to die soon.
This is not a good sign. First I separate Jemima from any other fish you might have. Next, check the tank for over-feeding. Also check the wet levels in the tank. (You can purchase a trial kit from pet store for about $30). Also, has the fish color changed at adjectives? Its probably due to stress in the tank. I would do a water alter on the tank. But chances are the poor little fish wont last but a few more days.
looks like he is heading for that big fish pond in the sky
This has happened to lots of mine. Im sorry but he is dying :( .
mix within lemon juice and beer batter mix and fry him at 350c for ten minutes...combine with a nice chardonnay
Is my crowntail betta healty?   I own 2 golden Albino frogs living within my reservoir. Can i make the addition of fish to them?   How do you verbs a reservoir resembling this one?   Can you hang on to more than one different species of wrasse within a reservoir?
