The best thing to put within there that your fish won't eat is freshwater clams, look for freshwater clams on google and ebay! I Bought over 12 clams on ebay for my tanks and they adjectives did great they stop ammonia spikes and help keep the way down algae!
Yes, the off the record ingredient to completely stop algae dead in it's tracks is "clean water". Algae runs in their natural habitat when the water becomes laden beside fertilizer. A diligent regime of water changes and filter cleaning will stop the algae.
Look at it this way, whether you add fish that eat algae,do they not just trademark more crap to grow more algae?, adding fish will not make algae go absent.
Here's the rule: There is no such thing as a free lunch-- if you put something in the tank--fish--food --plants--- or even clams(?)--- what ever,it stays surrounded by there until you take it out.
Answers: do not put algae eaters with cichlids . convicts are very aggressive whether you want a good fish to eat the algae get a spotted catfish they can appropriate care of your algae problem and also can defend them selves from predators. and no that is not to heaps fish for that tank you can put 45 fish in a 55 gallon tank the more you enjoy the less aggressive they will be. but only fish that can hold there own against fish that are aggressive
