Help beside ich treatment?
I've been treating ich with rid ich+ for the past 8 days. My warmth is at 82 and I have half a teaspoon of salt per gallon. My fish be getting better, but today, they were completely covered surrounded by the ich. I'm really afraid they aren't going to live much longer, so I went to the petstore to see what I should do. They said I should use coppersafe since the other medicine isn't working. I was simply wondering how long I should wait before I start this new treatment. I newly put my carbon back into my filter and I'm going to do a partial water change latter. Can I start the treatment tonight or should I wait till tomorrow? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
It take longer then 8 days to treat ich. It can take up to 14 days.
You can start current treatment that day IF you do a 50% water change and run the carbon for a daylight or a few hours to clear out all left over chemicals.
You should buy a copper test apparatus to be on the safe side it will help you when you do water change and need to add more copper because you took some out. Look for a test utensils that test chelated copper not just free copper because coppersafe is chelated copper. basically it mode the copper was treated chemical to make it more stable it have to do with chemistry.
The Rid Ich should have helped your fish. I would be concerned that they get a secondary infection and that's what making them so weak. Lucky for you when using coppersafe you can also use other meds by Mardel such as Maracyn-two. Let your fish adjust to the coppersafe first if they are doing capably then you could add Maracyn-two treatment to fight stale any infections they might have gotten.
Good luck.

Answers: You should be able to safely start as soon as you do the marine change and give the filter a few hours to pull out the rest of the prehistoric medication. When treating for ich in addition to removing the carbon filter you should also leave the lights stale. Light breaks down many of the medications used to treat ich making them less forceful.
I would start the treatment as soon as possible. Be sure to take the carbon out of the filter as this will chemically engender the ich treatment not work. i used a product called ich attack, it uses organic materials only, but it will turn your river brown. Keep treating as directed by the manufacturer. Also depending on your fish you can increase the temperature of the water and it will snuff out off some of the ich. Also keep treating after there are no signs of ich on your fish, the fully developed ich (the visible white spots) will fall into the rocks and reproduce.
Some people theorize that most fish tank have ich in the tank and it only just lays dormant until something often a change in warmth triggers them. Just something i thought was interesting.
