Help beside what equipment I stipulation for a pond?
I know how to dig a pond and stuff but what do you need for a pond? I means filter, de-icers, light ect..
water
You would need a pond liner and pump, flexible PVC.
Answers: Depending on the size of your pond basically you need a filter that will turn the pond volume over a minimum of 3 times per hour. 5 is better whether you live in a hot climate. Most filters come ready equiped for a fountain (usually 3 commander for varied fountains) and an additional section for routing to a hose down fall.
Unless you are using a sub pump (extreamly large ponds) this is really all you involve for your fish.
You don't need lighting, but underwater lighting is great for summer evenings when viewing your pond. They are actually fairly inexpensive and hold colored lenses so you can change the lighting to suit you.
Solar pool balls are great as well. Wal mart sell them for around $3 each and they come in varied colors. The ball soak up the sun all day and display colored lighting all dark. (Larger goldies love to poke them around the ponds)
De icers are not needed unless you really want to see your pond thru the winter. (You CANNOT feed your fish at this time) Really deicer isn't needed since the fish will hibernate once the water temps bring back to 50 degrees Foods should stop when the water temps hit 55, They are fine under the rime all winter and do not attempt to cut or break a hole in the pond. If you enjoy a preform or cement pond, this will kill your fish.
Really all that is needed to own a man made pond is a filter. Everything above that is an upgrade.
try the underwater LED lighting, inexpensive and nice. I also add solar lights around the landscaping and path of all my ponds (That is more so I don't fall in, but it attracts bugs as very well for the fish to feed on)
