How come my goldfish don't grow?
OK i have two goldfish in a ten gallon that are standard size when you buy them (note its the 10 cent ones). In four months ill own had them for a year. Now my friend has his own for 2 months in a 55 gallon beside all these other fish and that goldfish already got bigger than mine. But wait my other friend have one in a BOWL a very small one not even a gallon for about a year its other filthy and yet that fish is hugeee atleast 3 times the size of mine and bigger than the 55 gallon fish. Also note every fish im talking roughly speaking is a comet goldfish. its said that they can grow big i want mine to be huge for i eventually will toss them in a bigger tank
First rotten are all of you feeding your fish the same point? What determines the fish's size are a few things. First and foremost it is how they were reared in the first 120 days of their birth. Secondly is environment and third food.
Comets will and generally don't get larger than 12"
Fancy's rarely larger than 7"
Commons are the largest at potential over 32" with shubs, watkins and jinkins right on their tail.
Goldfish need proteins and fibers low fats and fillers. A balanced diet is great.
Also, your fish still should own gotten larger than they are now. If they are commons they should be around 12-14 inches now Comets should be at a year around 6".
It is true if you want larger fish, bring back a larger tank. Fish in general will release a chemial within the brain and tell the fish not to grow as fast since their surrroundings won't permit a larger fish.
Every fish is different so these are only just averages. Really, you want them large, put them in a large container.
They're not growing because they don't have any room to grow. The sea quality in the 10 gallon is probably pretty poor due to all the consume they produce, and this is stunting them. If you want to keep them properly, get them a tank of at least possible 55 gallons (or better yet, put them in a backyard pond).
The other fish have grown any because they have the room to do so, or because they're exceptionally hardy and have overcome the horrible conditions of a goldfish bowl.
Answers: you should feed it more unless its already letting food bring to the bottom without eating it. If they eat adjectives the food, you should consider putting more food in for them to eat
well they grow to size of taank and type of food
my aunt has a goldfish she get a year ago and its a foot long and its in a 10 gall (im trying to get her to relocate up) but mine ive had for years is stil a 1 inch in a bowl
Hmm, goldfish are interesting in the they grow to the size that their environment allows.
Yours singular a small amount becuase its not only in a small tank, but near another living specimen.
the 55 gallon one grew because, even though there are other fish, it has much much more swimming room in which it can grow.
As for the bowl my speculation is this: either he bought the fish already at a larger size and it grew to fill up the bowl too quickly, or he purchased it at your size, but because it does not hold any other fish, it grew up to take the space.
So my suggestion is that if its not growing any more, its already time to get it into a bigger reservoir. A 10 gallon for two comets is pushing way to small.
cheers. :)
depends on the breed of the fish
You do not have them contained by a large enough tank.
