How do i know whether my betta's are roughly to struggle?

I have one male betta and one female betta...i few day's ago i saw my manly betta's gills expand...i wasn't sure if he was approximately to attack my female betta...and how do i get them to mate?

You can't keep male and female bettas together, so bring them in separate tanks ASAP or one could end up massacre the other. As for mating, breeding bettas is VERY time-consuming and complicated. It is *not* something you do without a lot of preparation and research.
Even though you saw the small fins near your bettas gills expand, doesn't necessarily mean that he was just about to attack your female. Especially if he didnt' end up doing it. If I be you (just to be on the safe side) keep your bettas separate. Males can be kept with females, but I really don't recommend it, due to the certainty that they will breed, in which case you will have to separate out adjectives males from the babies and put them each in individual tanks/bowls, also sometimes the males will kill a feminine (although it isn't as common as a male killing another male) whether you leave them together make sure that your tank/bowl is massive enough for the female to get absent from the male, he won't want to chase her around so if she can just catch far enough away from him, she should be safe.

There is no specific instrument to get betta fish to mate. they either will or they won't, but i really dont' recommend you to do it. why do you want to? if you want lots of bettas, they are solitary a few dollars at a pet store, plus maybe $20 for each bowl and rocks.
Answers:    Bettas are all different, I have a male blue betta that would only spawn with red females and would shoot any other color females. Each betta is different, you will learn with experience. I would either try next to a different female or vice-versa. Male and female bettas should only be together for spawning and nil else.
Okay... So one point that you are going to want to know about Betta is that they are bubble nesters (like gourami) the male will make a nest of bubbles at the top of the cistern, so make sure that the water is still and nearby isn't a current from a filter that will tear it apart.

When the male puffs out his gills and makes himself look bigger, that's the equivalent to a guy at the shore flexing his muscles. He's hitting on her.

You'll know that they are going to mate after the bubble nest has been made and they're hanging out surrounded by or around it.

Once you notice the eggs in the bubble nest, I suggest that you remove both the masculine and the female from the tank and put them in their own separate tank.

Good luck! Breeding fish is a lot of fun and a huge hobby of mine! I usually stick to the live bearers though as they're easier, but enjoy had success with Betta and not long my Oscar Cichlids!
If you have a container around 15 gallons you can settle a bowl in the tank, add some of the cistern water and put the female in it for her protection. She won't get hold of hurt by the male so long as you keep the water height down so he won't be able to jump in next to her to and start fighting. Or you can add a divider and have partly the tank for the male and half the cistern for the female, you will still need to keep the sea level low so they won't get into each others domain.

If you're going to breed bettas you better read up on it first because from what I hear it's quite a challenge, since these are fighting fish.
