How do you treat arowana fish?

I had 6 arowana in my tank 1 year weak about 18 inch long. 3 silver, 1 red, 1 green, and 1 gold. My 1 silver arowana's eyes are droop but the rest 5 arowana's have wonderul leveled eyes. What are the cause and how to cure this?
O_O. You have 6 arowana? You must enjoy an ENORMOUS tank. I was not brave plenty to even put one of these tankbusters in my 120 gallon.

Drop eye is a very common affliction surrounded by arowana and is thought to be caused by the fish constantly looking down from and the muscles around the eye (ocularis ocli) partially detatch at the point of origin. Some individuals will never exhibit this at adjectives, others seem predisposed to it. It is just part of the luck of the draw, I suoopse.
From what I just read, some people put their arowanas surrounded by a tank by themselves, and cover all the sides up. That way, you cant see within, and they cant see out. And theyd put a clear covering over the top, and some people would actually put christmas lights above the top of it. And put them on the setting that makes the lights "run" down the splash. They may need to be kept in there for up to a month. But its outstandingly likely that it will come back once they go subsidise into the other tank. Also, from what I understand, droop eye is very promising to be a genetic issue. So you can fix it in a month, but it will probably come back in a few days.

And you necessitate to have a massive tank. Good god. Something like 600+ gallons confidently. You have six 3 foot fish in your tank, please furnish them the room they need,,, They are very beautiful. I dont own a tank for one right now, so Im waiting for one...
Answers:    success is on the right track here. Silver Arowana are South Americans, and grow much larger. Yes you need a very hulking tank, but that's not the issue nor what you are asking about. There is a very distinct point flying right over the director of someone here, and that is it takes a few years before you really obtain yourself into trouble which you can keep smaller Arowana in a smaller tank for some time, and another item EVERYONE totally missed is that South Americans simply do not come in Red Green and Gold. People, those are ASIANS and they do NOT grow all that big.

What does surprise me here is that you are not having some height of conflict between the South Americans and the three Asians. They are related on a level of about what we'd consider to be cousins, so within is some distance between them and the temperments on Asians are more aggressive then the South Americans.

The reason I suspect you have 6 contained by there is if Arowana are kept in groups, you should save them in groups of 5-10 just I don't think that factor in the differences between South Americans and Asians is all. Clearly I'd have to reflect on, if you are doing things legally, you aren't in the USA that's for certain, as Asian Arowana are very illgeal here.

The cause is like what nouns said. What happens in South Americans, much much more then the Asians and Jardini is whether you do not have something in your tank, close to ping pong balls or floated drift wood, something you need to keep the South Americans looking upwards, over time, the protein surrounded by their diet tends to cause the eye muscles to develop in a downward growth. Once this have started, I'm sorry to tell you, you cannot fix this short of surgery. There is no treatment or cure for this other then that.

You can try to slow the progress of it by NOT feeding it feeder fish whether you are now, putting in things to keep it looking up contained by the tank too. I suspect keeping them in with Asians might enjoy something to do with it as well since Asians don't really stay completely on the surface as a South American would. Asians, much like Jardini spend moderately a bit of time in the lower parts of a tank too and this may be making your South Americans a little frightened.

Down the road, you are going to need something pretty massive to hold this populations so I can only suspect you are in a tropical nation and enjoy a pond? I'd highly reccomend consdering that move before they hit the 24 inch size range. I own a 180 and kept my groups, sometimes as many as 6 in there. Of course I couldn't receive Asians like you, but up to the 18-20 inch size range is as far as I'd keep them next I'd sell them off for a nice profit. Netting and moving a fish at this size is not an easy piece to do at all. In your best interest, you may want to consider getting them in a long term domestic and soon, if you already haven't done so.
6 arowanas? You must enjoy a pond for these surely? You'd need around 1200 gallons at least just for the silvers particularly when full grown, not to mention a possible clash of personalities.

As for the drop eye - what are you feeding them? This is incurable and primarily caused by a fatty diet such as feeder fish close to goldfish.
